5.0 out of 5 stars A very useful device, which functions well, at a reasonable price., 8 Aug 2014
I like the fact that the manufacturer of this product has the confidence in it to give it a 5 year warranty. There’s probably not a lot that should go wrong with a device like this, if properly made, but I have had cheaper ones fail on me so I tend to tread warily. This one appears robust and well put together, though, and I’d be surprised if it let me down. If it does, back to the manufacturer with it – reassuring to know.

It’s nice and light, with a suitably short 20cm cable – the whole device is easily pocketed. Three blue USB 3.0 ports sit nicely spaced out at the top of the device, with slots at one end for SD, SDHC, SDXC, MMC, RS-MMC, microSD, and miniSD cards (you’ll need a separate adapter for miniSD cards). Cards and memory sticks all slot in nicely. There’s a useful blue light to show that it’s connected. Data transfer speeds are fast, and the device stays cool.

A very useful device, which functions well, at a reasonable price.

5.0 out of 5 stars A quality item that does what it says on the tin - with a 5 year warranty, too!, 4 Aug 2014
I needed some additional USB 3.0 ports for my Windows 8 PC, and this looked like fitting the bill, with the added benefit of 4 USB charging ports. The aluminium casing was a big draw, as was the 5 year warranty – a lot longer than the standard year.

As soon as it arrived I was struck by the attention to detail, and the care that’s obviously been taken to project the high quality of the item. A small point, but even the carton’s been well designed, and there’s that Samsung or Apple feel as you open it – the expectation that it’s something worth opening.

I wasn’t disappointed. It’s a solidly put together charging and data hub, with 4 blue USB 3.0 ports and 4 red USB charging points. There are two 1A charging ports, and two 2.4A ports. A power supply is included, so a maximum charging current of 10A is possible – far more than can be achieved with similar self-powered devices. Made of aluminium, rather than the usual plastic, it has a nice solid feel to it, and EasyAcc must also have a lot of confidence in it to give it a 5 year warranty - very few companies are prepared to offer a guarantee that long.

The connecting cables were all provided, and it took about a minute to get it up and running. No software required – just straightforward connections.

A very nice, simple but effective, high quality product, as a result of which I now have the additional USB 3.0 ports I needed, along with some useful charging ports. It looks good (nice, stylish design), has a useful on/off switch, and does exactly what it says on the tin.

1.0 out of 5 stars Useless when the battery dies - can't be replaced, 23 Feb 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This is an expensive item - very expensive, in fact. It works well enough, though no better than much cheaper options.

But to sell an item costing that amount of money with a battery can't be replaced is little short of criminal - Philips should be deeply ashamed of themselves for ripping off their customers and damaging the environment into the bargain.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great set - but why no Autorip?, 31 Oct 2013
Classic Buddy Holly, but spoiled by the lack of Autorip - likely to put off a fair few buyers, who now see Autorip as pretty much an essential for an Amazon purchase.

1.0 out of 5 stars No capacity marked on them and they don't retain their charge, despite the claims, 3 Aug 2013
I bought several sets of these about a year ago, having been a consistent user of other brands of low self-discharge batteries, such as Eneloop, GP, Duracell and Uniross. These have proved to be the worst of the lot. Fine at first, but a year on they fail to hold their charge as they should do, and I shall not be buying any more.

Odd, also, that nowhere on the battery, or on its pack, does it state the capacity.

3.0 out of 5 stars Grossly overpriced, 18 Jun 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
It's OK. It's a very basic case that does the job intended. But it patently isn't worth anything like the near-£15 currently being charged for it. eBay has scores of near-identical cases listed for as little as £2.39, delivered.

Save yourself £12+ - buy one there.

1.0 out of 5 stars Only one word, I'm afraid - horrible, 2 Mar 2013

Perhaps a question of taste, but to me (and to the wife) these are quite revolting. Maybe some people like them, maybe they're an acquired taste - but to me they're really unpleasant and the whole lot will be binned.

1.0 out of 5 stars Shortbread with vegetable fat - mmmmmm........!, 22 Feb 2013
This review is from: Farmhouse Shortbread (Grocery)
There's something of a clash here between the product description:

"Family run biscuit manufacturers
Traditionally made biscuits
Only use the best ingredients"

and the actual ingredients:

"Wheat Flour, Vegetable Fat (vegetable oil, water, salt, emulsifier E475, Flavourings, Colours: Annatto and Curcumin) Sugar"

Vegetable fat? Water? Emulsifier? In traditionally made biscuits only using the best ingredients? I don't think so!

Where's the butter? What's all that other stuff?

Why would anybody pay good money for these?

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazon - please note (your customers can avoid those who avoid tax), 30 Dec 2012
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: Pay Your Taxes (Kindle Edition)
An interesting read. Companies like Amazon, Starbucks and Boots that choose to avoid paying their fair share of UK taxes should realise that ex-customers can avoid them, too.

When Amazon avoids UK taxes, it means more taxes for the rest of us who have no choice (and higher morals). It also means a worsening of the NHS, the state of the roads getting even worse, worsening standards in education and even poorer care for our older people.

Companies want all the benefits of trading in the UK - but none of the responsibilities that go with it. Shame on you.
