I bought my copy of this book from Amazon, it was published by Yale University Press and made in China. It looks almost identical to the previous Penguin edition, but the Penguin edition, at least mine of Gwent / Monmouth (2000) has only monochrome plates.
I may have been unfortunate in buying this particular copy, but after a few days' gentle handling the colour photographic quires became loose, the stitching was obviously faulty, leaving large gaps between the quires. It may be that the slippery nature of the colour plates is the cause of the failure. In short, unless you are desperate for the colour plates, it's probably better to buy the older Penguin editions which are far more durable.

1.0 out of 5 stars Appalling!, 30 Aug 2012
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
The novella-sized pamphlet arrived in good condition, perhaps a little late due to the Bank Holiday. But oh alack! Almost all the pages, execpt those of the appendix, at least 80% of the text and nearer 90% perhaps, had been scored through with a brilliant pink marker pen which made the eyes water in an attempt to read the text; which looks as if it might be interesting. Six of the best for the student who loved his books so nicely, and the same for the bookseller who sold it, and presumably bought it, in such a degraded condition.

4.0 out of 5 stars Woman with Birthmark, 30 Jun 2011

We are so tired of men preying on vulnerable women, Hakim Nesser turns the scenario on its head. An excellent fast-paced thiller, there is no gratuitious sex or violence although the theme makes it unsuitable for pre-teen children. Much recommended.

4.0 out of 5 stars Fender guitar case, 30 Jun 2011

Good solid well-made case. Fits Fender Stratocaster very neatly.
I've only had a few products from Tone-Deaf, but they've all been good quality and at rock-bottom prices.

Topkapi is a fast-paced humrous thiller, containing no gratuitous sex or violence. The amusing anti-hero gets into all sorts of trouble due to his own perfidity and greed. A real page-turner. Highly recommended.
