A handy reference guide to the queens of Henry VIII. Easy to read and a handy time line at the end.

5.0 out of 5 stars Acutely observed, 8 Feb. 2013

A slow, but engaging observation of life today and human frailty and pettiness. After 95% of not much action, they book twists like a knife at the end. I loved it. Harry Potter it is not, but it showcases the author's versatility.

5.0 out of 5 stars The cook book for non cooks, 30 Jan. 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
As a lifelong non-cook who never felt confident cooking, I saw Richard demonstrating at a show. Impressed with his casual but interesting approach to cooking, where pretty much anything goes, I bought his book. It's been great. You are encouraged to try things and make stuff up yourself with whatever happens to be in the house. Nothing is "wrong" there is nothing to measure yourself against and therefore there is no feeling of failure. It's just encouraging. Worth the purchase price for Richard's flat bread recipe alone, I've made loads.

The space bar came off my last keyboard at home. I use a Targus at work, so ordered this keyboard and it's great. I took off the wrist rest bit, and it's a really nice keyboard to work with, with the keys being very responsive. Love it!

5.0 out of 5 stars Gorgeous Book, 1 Jun. 2012

I bought this book for my daugher when she was a toddler. The illustrations are just gorgeous and the story is delightful. It's still on her bookshelf and she is 11 now! This should be on every child's bookshelf as it's a truly lovely book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Shifted verrucas when nothing else worked, 1 Jun. 2012
My daughter had loads of verrucas on her feet. We tried the Wartner freeze stuff, without much success. Then we found and tried this. Although she said it stung a little some times, it shifted the lot within a very short space of time. Very, very impressive stuff!

1.0 out of 5 stars A disappointing read, 1 Aug. 2010
This review is from: Wolf Hall (Paperback)
As a great lover of reading, and with a keen interest in the period of history the book covers, I was really looking forward to Wolf Hall as an indulgent treat. However, I found it slow, dull and, as many other reviewers have mentioned, incredibly confusing as to who was being referred to at any one time.

I almost gave up on the book, but persevered as a matter of pride. I finally read the last line of the book and wondered why on earth it had received such accolades.

It is clear Hilary Mantel has done a great deal of research, but I'm afraid the style didn't flow and my interest waned almost with every page.

5.0 out of 5 stars A stunning, fascinating book, 31 Mar. 2003
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
A masterpiece by Michael Bilton taking you into the depths of the Ripper investigation with all its twists, turns and, unfortunately, errors and missed opportunities to apprehend Peter Sutcliffe. Although very detailed, the book is readable and, at times, unputdownable.
