5.0 out of 5 stars Straightforward and Gritty with no glory hunting!, 11 Feb 2013
I have a lot of respect for film makers that are prepared to be brave. A gritty straightforward "docu film" about the biggest manhunt in history. We will never know what actually happened but this is the next best thing. There are no "hoowaahh" amercanisms either - just pinpoint detail.

It does contain torture scenes but these are nowhere near as bad as what you have been lead to believe. In fact Ive seen worse on a BBC Sunday night!

Very different to the Hurt Locker but if you liked that or other political docu films you will like this. The first 5 minutes of the film are probably the most provocative..and theres nothing on screen. Your just listening....

A Classic

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome Film...Unfortunately Reviewed By Idiots, 29 Sep 2012
First of all, this Blu Ray copy of Prometheus has not been released so its surprising to see 1 review, let alone 202 at the time of writing. What we have is fans venting their emotions (and for some reason confusion) over the best sci-fi cinema event of 2012.

Im tempted to go head long straight in and say that Prometheus is (or could be) the first of three films that will take the timeline upto the events around Ridley Scott's 1979 Alien (as the 4th chapter in the story). I say it with reservation because the 21st century cinema goer just says it was 'rubbish' when one or two things happen. 1: They dont understand it? 2: They have walked into the cinema with the impression that it will tie straight in with the universe they currently know and live their lives on the internet sucking up gossip.

Like probably many of you out there I saw Alien in the cinema and have followed the Alien saga ever since.

Early in production Ridley Scott said that there is no direct links with Prometheus and Alien. And even if it did, we where never going to know what those elements were when the credits rolled at the end of the film.

Our modern world makes us loose patience when we dont get what we want quickly. Back in 1979 the world wasnt like that, but we still managed to make truly excellent films.

I went to see Prometheus with a totally open mind and watched it as a singular (un related) film. I understood the film and could see the Alien saga in its very early infancy.

Take a step back and watch the film again - this time in a singular sense. For those that still dont understand then maybe the Blu Ray alternate ending will give you what you seek...whatever that is!
