5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic Froomey!, 4 Jun. 2015
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This book is a truly absorbing read. The story of this remarkable man is incredible. After watching the somewhat `clinical` win of Wiggins in the 2012 Tour de France, I was far more interested in Chris Froome. His total dedication to the sport is revealed in this book but it also tells the story of his early life in Kenya which is fascinating. Froomey comes across as a sensitive, deep character who never stops appreciating the efforts of those around him, those who have helped and guided him along the way.
I could not put this book down. Excellent!

2.0 out of 5 stars An epic effort but...., 25 Mar. 2015
This book was not for me. It was great that this ride was for charity but I'm afraid there was too much waffle and not enough about the actual cycling.

Well written and packed with historic facts this book is a delight. For any endurance cyclist this is an absorbing read (and for that matter non cyclists too!) Julia makes every journey an adventure full of humour along the way. Highly recommended.

5.0 out of 5 stars One man's adventure, truly inspiring, 11 Mar. 2015
I really enjoyed this book. The challenge of the hills, terrible weather and need for food are really brought to life! The photos along the way also make for a much more interesting book than others on this subject. Highly recommended.

5.0 out of 5 stars A totally absorbing book, highly recommended, 28 Feb. 2015
Having just started training for my own 'end to end' ride in June 2015, this was a book I just couldn't put down! I was completely absorbed by Julia's adventures and filled with admiration at her constant determination despite setbacks along the way (mostly due to the attitude of rail companies and staff towards cyclists!) This book is a must for anybody. It will inspire you to achieve your dreams whatever they may be.

5.0 out of 5 stars A really helpful little book, 16 Dec. 2014
Having suffered from anxiety myself through a very stressful job, I found this book calming me as I read it. It's a great book to go back to when you need it. I would recommend it to all fellow sufferers.

3.0 out of 5 stars A lady of cotton: a detailed account of her life, 22 Sept. 2014

I decided to read this book after watching the Tony Robinson 'Real Mill' episodes on TV. I was somewhat disappointed that there is very little detail about Hannah's interaction with the children of the mill and most of the book seems to concentrate on her religious beliefs and visitors to Quarrybank.

5.0 out of 5 stars The bravest of the brave...we owe them so much, 30 Aug. 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Having worked as a police officer myself for the last 23 years this book was one I simply couldn't put down. I felt humbled reading about these brave men and women who tackled dangerous situations without a thought for themselves. This book is written from the heart and is highly recommended as a truly inspiring and uplifting read.
