Hilaries Forced Feminisation
Hilaries Forced Feminisation
by Anonymous
Edition: Paperback

3.0 out of 5 stars A Tale Of The Feminisation Of An Aggressive Young Man., 24 May 2013
Feminisation, the process of changing the behaviour of young men by women, schooling their male changes by means of dress and stern discipline, is one of the more aggressive forms of fetishistic erotic practice. It is the subject of many men's erotic fantasies, one which, like being treated as a baby, lends itself readily to role-playing activity with the assistance of women who are happy to undertake the necessary disciplinary role. Hilarie is the oddly named young man who is subjected to this treatment, and the book presents his humiliation in the detail aficionados will appreciate. The book is rather lightweight, ending inconclusively, but perhaps such readers will not mind this.

This review is from: Whipping As A Fine Art (Paperback)
We are always led to understand that the wealth of erotic literature produced, mainly in France, in the late Victorian and Edwardian era. In those works that continue to be published we see a wide range of literary quality, and also considerable variety in the specific erotic activities which act as its subjects. Hints are given that those works which still appear are some way from representing the totality of what was originally produced, sometimes in limited editions for the edification of possibly jaded and unusual appetites. 'Whipping as a Fine Art' seems to originate from this obscure margin. As with much of the contemporary examples of the genre that has survived to this day, the book deals with the chastisement of nubile females. What distinguishes this example is the lack of any other activity, combined with the relentlessness of its application. The book has three sections, of which the first gives one tale, a second tale being then given in two parts. Throughout, the main character, Mr Howard, is described in his exercise on the rear, fleshy anatomy (and occasionally elsewhere) of a number of subservient young women, using whips and birches. At best, consensuality appears only in the absence of alternatives, and the lack of humanity displayed is reminiscent of the famed Marquis. Its punitive monotone and lack of sany redeeming literary style make it suitable for those with such extreme tastes, but the majority of devotees of erotic chastisement will find this barely erotic.

Teenage Caning Vol.1. No.1
Teenage Caning Vol.1. No.1
by Anonymous
Edition: Paperback

2.0 out of 5 stars A 'Photo Story' Book With Almost No Plot, 23 May 2013
'Teenage Caning' promises much to devotees of the literature of erotic chastisement, but it fails to deliver on this promise. Ben's Books do not, in general, reach the quality later attained by the highly professional Janus Publications, but this 'Photo Reader' is exceptionally ill-conceived and badly executed. It has four sections. The first one consists of two short stories which describe the activities of teenage girls, but neither of them as much as mentions or even implies any form of chastisement, never mind caning. The other three parts are supposed to be monochrome 'photo stories', although none of them can be said to tell a story. A few words provided on the back cover may be intended to give a clue about one 'story', in which a man wields a cane half-heartedly in front of (and sometimes behind) a partially clad woman. This part is only weakly erotic, and the other two parts are even less so. They use the same two women in scenes of lesbian cavorting, mostly without a bamboo in sight! These parts are not graced with any indications of story plot. OK there are lots of photographs in the collection, mostly of average quality, and I suppose this allows a two-star rating, but otherwise the 'book' is merely an early seventies example of publications that sold themselves on the basis of a promising combination of cover design and title.

Six of the Best: Or a Year at the Muir Academy
Six of the Best: Or a Year at the Muir Academy
by Ishmael Skyes
Edition: Paperback

4.0 out of 5 stars Make-Believe For Adults In A Highly Disciplined School Setting, 23 May 2013
This book is unique, in that it relates to the fee-paying participation of mature adults in an establishment called the Muir Academy. Attendees at the Academy experience a disciplinary scholastic regime based on British grammar schools in the period between the start of secondary education for all and the cessation of corporal punishment. Skyes has here brought together something of a ragbag of tales involving naughty escapades which are always corrected by routine strappings and canings, and thee tales involve a mixture of characters familiar to those with an interest in the lighter aspects of education. There are erotic overtones, certainly, but only for readers who have fantasies of erotic chastisement, for which the six stories provide an only slightly fanciful environment for the ever-popular school setting of summary retribution via the sensitive lower regions of a number of hapless inmates. The illustrations lighten the progress of the stories, although their graphic standard leaves very much to be desired. A 'specialist' publication

Is That a Fish in Your Ear?: The Amazing Adventure of Translation
Is That a Fish in Your Ear?: The Amazing Adventure of Translation
by David Bellos

5.0 out of 5 stars A Superb Book, Full of Delights, 11 May 2013

The 'Hitch-Hiker's Guide' reference in the title suggests a jocular approach to the science and art of inter-Language translation, and Bellos maintains this light-hearted style as he tunnels deeply and extensively into its subject which proves to be one in which even the question of accuracy, and even of the possibility of translation itself are shown to depend on what we mean by accuracy and translation. Bellos' approach is both rigorous and firmly founded in the history of human communication, in all of its forms and intents, and it is entertaining. More than that, I feel it makes necessary reading for any who value the riches of language, and not just for the pedants who find the ability to share thoughts with precision. I should make it clear that I am no professional in language, merely an intrigued amateur, but for me, Bellos' progress towards his aims and objectives stands proudly alongside the books of the great Steven Pinker. I found but one unturned stone in his analysis, that of the translation of musical lyrics, particularly in the classical sphere, where source and destination texts may involve a biblical commonality that further complicates the prime requirement that the words must mellifluously fit the notes. A specialist probably deserving of a fleeting mention, certainly, and Bellos is easily forgiven its omission. An excellent book.

Chateau Soumission: The House of Submission
Chateau Soumission: The House of Submission
by Louise Malatesta
Edition: Hardcover

5.0 out of 5 stars A Tour-de-Force In The Literature Of Female Domination, 10 May 2013
Malatesta's collection of the three stories which constitute the volume entitled ' Château Soumission' is in the very best tradition of erotic literature, being both richly erotic and written with an elegant, witty style that gives the lie to the widespread impression that erotic writing, obviously designed for arousal, is usually tawdry and denigrated by the modern pejorative of 'mere pornography'. Perhaps it should be made clear that its subject is erotic chastisement, with barely any more standard libidinousness, and its main emphasis concerns dominant females. However, the style and plots involved are so good that a much broader readership will surely be entranced by it. The principal story in the volume, itself carrying the title given to the book as a whole, concerns a country house establishment which welcomes rich ladies into an environment that employs a host of disadvantaged young people, each one rigorously schooled using bodily chastisement. The ladies are encouraged to discipline these underlings strictly, and they do so in ways which often endear them to their young charges. The plot is engaging and well constructed. After the second contribution, a versified set of instructions to a young woman newly given charge of unruly male pupils, the volume concludes with a delightful tale in which an older woman reminisces about chastisement experiences, both real and imagined. It is a delicate, wistful tale that captures well and sensitively her regrets as she approaches an lonely, ageing spinsterhood. This is a superb book which provides a deeply probing illustration of the feelings experienced by participants at both ends of the fustigatory rod.

4.0 out of 5 stars A Beautifully Written Combination of Gastronomy and Erotic Chastisement, 30 April 2013
Penny Birch is one of the leading lights in the literature of erotic chastisement, and 'Temper Tantrums' is well up to her excellent standard. The spankings are many, even though the book is even more replete with other humiliations, which frequently drift into the scatological area, but even given such emphases the book stays light-hearted and entertaining. Indeed, it might even be valued as a gastronomic travelogue for the region of the southh of France that forms its setting. The eponymous heroine, prone to enough wayward behaviour to justify the punitive treatment accorded to her soft rear parts by most of the people she meets, whether male or female. A most enjoyable yarn.

The Illustrated Book of Corporal Punishment
The Illustrated Book of Corporal Punishment
by Lynn Paula Russell
Edition: Paperback

5.0 out of 5 stars Delightful and Thoughtful. Well Illustrated., 28 April 2013
This is one of the excellent serie of small pocket books on erotic subjects published by the EPS. It was written by the distinguished British graphic artist, Lynn Paula Russell, and she is here as articulate and interesting as always in this brief and well-informed discussion of erotic chastisement. I imagine she has had a major say in the choice of illustrations, even those that are not her own superb drawings, because they are fresh and arousing, and quite distinct from the routinely plentiful supply of cp-specific photographs and graphic images. The text, too, is well furnished with relevant anthological extracts, including an extract from the erotic novels of John Colleton, although some bibliographical data would have helped the aficionado. Ms Russell's personal experience (and love of) her topic shine through constantly, and as a whole the book is a charming miniature collectable in its subject genre. One to treasure!

A Degree Of Discipline (Nexus)
A Degree Of Discipline (Nexus)

5.0 out of 5 stars A Tall Pinnacle In The Field Of Erotic Chastisement, 22 April 2013
In the field of erotic chastisement literature 'A Degree of Discipline' stands supreme, head and shoulders above the normal fare in this genre. It has a fascinating plot that continues to surprise throughout, and it deals sensitively with the conflicting emotions felt by women who have a submissive tendency as they come to terms with their love of the delicious clash between pain and pleasure. It will delight practitioners and also those who are stimulated by reading of the subjection of nubile young women to the sting of the cane, the strap and the birch as these traditional instruments are expertly applied to their rear parts. Two scenarios are folded seamlessly together here: a (British) judicial system that has re-introduced the practice of a 'short, sharp, shock for petty crime; and a 'finishing' school for wayward young ladies in which rigorous corporal punishment is the foundation of its teaching methods. To say more would give away some significant turns in the delightful plot, but for those turned on by the chastisement of female buttocks by both males and females, this book is truly outstanding.

The Submission of Lilly
The Submission of Lilly
Price: £1.49

3.0 out of 5 stars Violent, Dirty, Humiliating Submission To A Gang, 15 April 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This book was not to my taste. I read it in paperback form. The word 'submission' is probably most often used in an inter-personal aspect, involving a dominant as well as a submissive. In this case the leading female character, 'Lilly', relieves her dissatisfaction with her anerotic academic husband by abasing herself with a violently amoral motorcycle gang. The writing style is quite unexciting, if competent, but I would place the volume in the 'pulp fiction' category of violent erotica. It's hardly violation of an innocent victim, although Lilly seems in two minds whether she really wants the degree of humiliation she is given, but it's close, and there's at least one scene of non-consensuality. For the specialist.
