3.0 out of 5 stars Had high hopes.....dashed., 23 Jan 2014

This review is from: Network Down (Kindle Edition)
The premise of the book sounded promising. I love post apocalyptic fiction and human emergence into a new world 100 years after WW3 from bunkers in the US really peeked my interest.
What followed was really just a very predictable and silly YA romp. Teen fiction at its most basic. The plot moves with a breakneck speed....to fast for it to make much sense in all honesty. Some great ideas and some good parts especially the New York desolation descriptions...but I needed more.

5.0 out of 5 stars ZOMBIE GB, 28 July 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Bleak, cold and depressing. Add to the normal British atmosphere a hoard of Zombies that are real, disgusting and deadly. The protagonists are a group of survivors that have hold up in the Laherne Convent in Devon for 7 years.....this is their story!

This book and its 2 sequels have all the elements of a great characters, inventive writing and edge of your seat suspense I had to buy books 2 & 3 immediately. I was reminded of the old British TV series "Survivors" (with added zombies) it had that feel to it.

I would love to see this commissioned as a TV series.

5.0 out of 5 stars The First Part, 4 Jun 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
I love Greig Becks books, something old fashioned in the way he creates situations and charactors straight out of "Saturday morning pictures". The first bird will not disappoint fans of Mr Becks previous "Arcadian" books. The First Bird is part one of a trilogy of novolas and part one grabs you from the start until the final page. Fans of gore, horror, creepy crawlies (as only an Aussie can write about!)and a plot that can only be described as a mash up of the Lost World, Indiana Jones and some gross out moments from Zombie films. Roll on July 1st for part two!

5.0 out of 5 stars Got Pets? Get this!, 26 Nov 2012

Its lightweight and that's how it works and boy does it pack a punch. You can hear the thing whirring away as soon as you switch your Henry on. No lag no slowing down or free spinning. Put it on a carpet and you will see the difference straight away.

Its a must if you have dogs & cats. Highly recommended.

4.0 out of 5 stars Small is good!, 12 Feb 2012
Don't be put off by the size of the book. A great little story very like a "Tales of the Unexpected" (bring it back!!). Would make a great 1 hour TV drama/comedy with Martin Freeman and Vinny Jones and directed by Guy Ritchie. Yes its a book you can read on the way to work and finish on the way home, as long as you don't drive to work in a Nissan Micra!

Having spent money on remote copters before I can honestly say this little chap is great for all ages an even novice Dads like me. It flies so well and is stable in flight that after 5 minutes of bouncing of walls and ceilings it flew like a dream. This product is still going strong! The added bonus is the camera and I cannot fault the "plug & play" ease with which you are able to download the images. Practice is needed to get good shots but we managed as a family to have great fun. Worth every penny and is being taken into school for a special project to fly over the assembly!

5.0 out of 5 stars Escapism at its best, 19 Dec 2011
Not to many books hit the ground running, hold your attention and make you realise that when dawn starts appearing through the curtains then you have been reading for a bit longer than normal!
Beneath the Dark Ice is one of those books that fulfill the above criteria. Loved the premiss, missing Arctic mission, super soldier, something nasty in the depths, Oh and a lost civilisation! Becks writing is fast paced, detailed and thrilling.
Its great to find new authors and I'm looking forward to reading more of Grieg Becks works and I am sure you will to.

1.0 out of 5 stars No Doctor?, 28 Nov 2011
= Durability:5.0 out of 5 stars  = Fun:1.0 out of 5 stars  = Educational:2.0 out of 5 stars
The box looks great Dr & Amy and a Weeping Angle, what a great gift for my 10 year old Dr Who fan. WRONG how disapointing to find no DR or Amy in the box. Its a kids toy! How cheapskate do you want to be for a little plastic figure that proberbly costs pennies to produce. At least with proper Lego the mini figs are always included if they are shown on the box. Rip off.

5.0 out of 5 stars Thank you!, 5 July 2011
This review is from: Afterlight (Hardcover)
Alex you have done it again! I started at the wrong end I guess with Time Raiders me being 49 my daughters (12 & 10) said they a must read.. I Can't wait for No-4. We digress... Afterlight..Fantastic and thank you for the "Authors Notes" section, that really got me thinking. (Keep it up! we love being spoken to) The book was a page turner from the start. I won't bore people with the plot, many have had better stabs at it. But I will say that the characters, situations and the whole atmosphere of the book will stay with you for a long time. Terry Nation would be proud of you. BTW anyone wanting to read post apoplectic fiction check out " SWAN SONG" by Robert R McCammon.
Thanks Alex I look forward to everything you publish.
