Excellent Survey of a Complex topic, 17 April 2009
As part of an excellent series which covers themes within modern art, Themes in Contemporary Art offers a good, in depth survey of some of the most interesting and frequently over-complicated ideas behind Postmodernism, Globalisation the Neo-Avant Gardes and the current art scene in a way which is clear and lucid. Much that is written on these topics is too florid and confusing, and this book acts a brilliant simplifier which is not basic, but simply precise and accurate without being pretentious. Excellent choices of artwork back up arguments and demonstrate arguments effectively.
Good for student or enthusiastic amateur.
