Baseball America Almanac: A Comprehensive Review of the 2009 Season, Featuring Statistics and Commentary (Baseball America's Almanac)
by Will Lingo
Edition: Paperback

2.0 out of 5 stars Disappointing for me, 20 Aug 2011
It was disappointing for me, as it included individual player statistics for all the players for all the major and minor league teams, but very few team statistics.

Interlinear Greek New Testament Bible
Interlinear Greek New Testament Bible

5.0 out of 5 stars Great value for money, 6 Aug 2010
This was given three five star ratings on the US Kindle site, and it's well worth it, especially at the price. It has the Greek interspersed with the English (not on alternate lines, as in some interlinears, which probably wouldn't work as well on the Kindle) and the Greek words have Strong numbers, and hyperlinks to the Greek definitions. The table of contents links to the individual books, and the chapters within each book. This version is by Scrivener, who was on the RV committee in 1881, but keeps a lot of the KJB text, so is a good compromise. Pastor D. A. Waite (head of the Dean Burgon Society) recommended it to me, and I was surprised to see that it was only available in a Kindle version, so I just had to have it :-)

1.0 out of 5 stars Very bad photocopy, 10 July 2010
As soon as I received this and opened it up this morning, I knew it had to go back. All it is is a photocopy of the original, bound in a pretty cover, with one and a half (!) pages of the original copied across the width of each page of the photocopy. Beware !

3.0 out of 5 stars Good, but could be better, 25 Sep 2009
This review is from: The CIA World Factbook (Paperback)
Contains comprehensive information on all countries of the world (and some which you might not consider to be countries, like the Spratly Islands) but no colour - it has a black and white map at the head of each country's entry, and black and white regional maps at the end; and descriptions of each country's flag, rather than a colour illustration, which I consider quite laughable in the 21st. century. Also there are no ranking lists by which you can compare a country's statistics against other countries in the world - they obviously expect you to go to the interactive website for that.

The Text of the New Testament: From Manuscript to Modern Edition
The Text of the New Testament: From Manuscript to Modern Edition
by J.Harold Greenlee
Edition: Paperback

3.0 out of 5 stars A good introduction, 2 Aug 2009
This book is only 128 pages, but offers a good introduction to the subject, starting with an introduction to ancient codices and scrolls on papyrus and parchment, before getting into the topic of the New Testament documents, and how textual critics distinguish between different variant readings. There is also a good bibliography for those who want to investigate further, so this book is merely a stepping stone for those who want to do further research into this subject. Within that scope, the book servers its purpose very well.

5.0 out of 5 stars Good summary of alternative views, 2 Aug 2009
This book resulted from a 2007 conference on the ending of Mark, and presents four viewpoints on the authenticityof the last twelve verses, and a summary by Darrell Bock. Although the book is only 145 pages, the opposing views are well presented. There is no bibliography, but there are extensive footnotes.

5.0 out of 5 stars This really does what it says, 13 Jun 2009
He takes you through examples (from simple to complex) and at every step he explains the new features that he has introduced; although you can just download the code from his website, and change the co-ordinates and text to create your own Google Maps. He even includes an introduction to Javascript.

2.0 out of 5 stars Difficult to read because of page size, 24 Feb 2009
Uses the NRSV which is a translation that is rather too free for my taste. The biggest problem is the page size, which makes it impossible for me to hold it in the hand while reading.

5.0 out of 5 stars Gives step by step instructions, 24 Feb 2009
Gives pros and cons of different publishing methods (plus the author's own experiences) followed by a 17 step plan for publishing a book and / or e-book using the online publishing method. Gives several web links, and minimum and maximum costs of each step. The author is Canadian, but gives links for other countries also.

2.0 out of 5 stars Too short, too many mistakes, 24 Feb 2009
Has some good tips (like what the author did wrong when she was starting out) but is very short, with very little information (small pages, large type, large margins) and contains too many spelling and formatting errors. The pictures on the cover look distorted also - not good from somebody who has their own publishing company.
