5.0 out of 5 stars This is a great sci-fi read, 9 Dec. 2014

The author has done it again. If you like fast moving, exciting, often complex story telling about real people, time travel and aliens - well then you can't go wrong with this book. What I particular like is the human characters, they are real and believable, and play a vital part in bringing the story about.
In short, if you are into this genre, then this is a great sci-fi read by a talented author.

5.0 out of 5 stars Stylish and absorbing story telling, 23 Jun. 2014

It is not often that one comes across a storyteller, who has such a distinctive, developed and absorbing 'voice' without at the same time being a well known, world famous best selling author.

Craig Furchtenicht does brilliantly in portraying and describing a rural, farming community deep in some far away American backwater. A community, which has shaped the story's brutal characters, their harsh language, the way they interact and behave towards each other within their little gang and towards the community, which spat them out into the world.
The characters are well defined and believable, each with their own quirks and defining features - some have less appealing features than others it has to be said.

However, what I like most about this novel is the actual storyline, which is absorbing and intriguing, and which is spun in such a way that you as a reader just keep turning the pages, right until the very end. Brilliant.

In summary, a stylish and absorbing story, which comes highly recommended. Compared to other excellent novels, which I rated five stars, this might just be a six!

THE KEYS TO MY DIARY
THE KEYS TO MY DIARY

5.0 out of 5 stars Highly entertaining, adult read, 18 Jun. 2014

If you are familiar with 'Adrian Mole' by 'Sue Townsend' or 'The Koala Speaks' BLOG (puyob.blogspot.co.uk), or you

just like to read other people's diary, then you are sure to enjoy reading 'THE KEYS TO MY DIARY' by Ann Omasta.

Through her many diary entries, we get to know the likable character of Fern Burns and her often caotic, always

entertaining and at times sad but never dull life including the highs and lows of her often depleated but highly

amusing sex life.

What I really like about this book is that it well written and edited, a real page turner with a central female

character, which is believable i.e. someone you can identify with. Having said that, I am not sure that I as a man

understand what Fern's 'grey bush' worries is all about. Still makes me chuckle, one of my favorite entries :)

In summary, an entertaining, adult read, worthy of five stars.

5.0 out of 5 stars A quick scary read, 17 Jun. 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This quick read by Emma Farrow has all the elements that a short story of this genre must have: A good opening that gets you hooked, strong characters, a plot that keeps you guessing and a dark and unexpected ending.

What I particular like is the story's composition, a mixture of now and flashback, as it makes the reader slowly but surely uncover the different elements of this dark tale, which get darker with every page.

In summary, a quick, dark, scary read well worth reading.

Dreamcatcher
Dreamcatcher

4.0 out of 5 stars Entertaining read, 17 May 2014

This review is from: Dreamcatcher (Kindle Edition)
Dreamcatcher by Ami Myall is an entertaining, full length and highly readable novel.

The intricate storyline revolves around the life of Madeline Price, an intriguing woman and mother, who on her deathbed tells the extraordinary story of her life, her loves, highs, lows and so on.

What I particular like about his book is the characters, which are well observed and believable. The dialogue feels natural, and helps moved the story along at a good pace.

My only negative is that the first chapter is extraordinarily long. Otherwise, this is a well edited novel, which I can best summarise as an entertaining read

Made In Bionia (A William Carrot mystery Book 1)
Made In Bionia (A William Carrot mystery Book 1)
Price: £1.99

4.0 out of 5 stars Suspense with a touch a romance and bio-chemistry, 14 May 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
'Made in Bionia' is an intriguing novel. It is first and foremost a well plotted suspense novel, with the obligatory love story woven into the mix of murder, double-crossing, spying and much more.

However, what makes the story so interesting is that the author clearly has a deep knowledge of bio-chemistry and have used his specialist knowledge to create a world on the brink of natural disaster, which can only be averted by some clever bio-science performed by the book's characters, which are well defined and believable.

In short, I like this novel because the author is so at easy with the subject matter. It adds realism and detail to the plot, the characters and the spoken dialogue throughout the book. A long but enjoyable read.

How to build and market an iPhone app?: Easy to follow steps to a slice of the app market.

4.0 out of 5 stars Useful handbook, 10 May 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
How to build and market and iPhone app is a short but concise handbook. It covers all the major steps that a budding entrepreneur should consider before, during and after the decision to launch an iPhone app. The chapter on how to market the iPhone app is particular detailed and informative, which I like a lot because this is the most important aspect of actually making a little money from your creation.

Would have liked to see more information on some topics, for example how to create an Apple ID, and how the final app is made available for download. Hence, a few pictures to help explain some of the more complex topics would have been beneficial. It would also be nice if there had been a small section about the author and his experiences and credentials in this market place.

However, these are all minor points, which does not detract from the overall view that this is a useful handbook for anyone wanting to understand the overall process of how to build and market an iPhone app.

5.0 out of 5 stars An enthralling and disturbing read, 6 May 2014

This review is from: Necropolis (Kindle Edition)
Necropolis by Guy Portman is a splendid novel.
Written in the first person, the reader is instantly transported inside the main character's mind. And what a main character - Dyson Devereux - the author has created!

While I initially was unsure about the direction of the story, the main character, his behaviour, environment, friends and everyday life is so well described, original and compelling that I just could not stop reading. After just a few pages it becomes clear that Mr. Devereux is far from normal in his outlook on the world, his wants and needs. The author shows the reader these subtle character traits by clever use of language and through carefully observed happenings. Some of these are funny, others very disturbing in nature indeed.

An enthralling, disturbing and excellently written novel, which I can't recommend enough.

Obscured, Yet Relatively Clear: Poetry From My Last 29 Years
Obscured, Yet Relatively Clear: Poetry From My Last 29 Years
Price: £0.99

4.0 out of 5 stars A collection of emotional poems, 9 Jan. 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
A small collection of about 30 easy-to-read poems, which feels likes a deeply personal, often sad or disillusioned reflection of how the author views the modern world, the humans that populate it and his own conflicting emotions.

Why am I recommending this eBook. Because it a real, almost naked view of how another human sees the world, which I personally find deeply fascinating. The emotion is there on each page, and you cannot fail to be touched by the words and sympathise with many of the pictures painted throughout the book.

My favourite poem was "New York City" because it reminded me about what the place is like, something I have almost forgotten as my last visit was many years ago. Nostalgia is a wonderful thing in small doses.
