2.0 out of 5 stars the bride was too beautiful !, 2 Aug 2011
I baught this vinyl according to the design of the vinyl which is wearing the banana on the grooves... and I add no comments to the wonderful Velvet Underground music that crossed decades without aging... BUT, I have serious critisisms regarding the vinyl product, produced by "Back to Back picture vinyl": the sound is not as clear as it should be. There is a background-noise all along the music (easily audible between the songs). It's a shame and I strongly advise against buying this version of the vinyl reissues. Hopwever, the vinyl sound of this Velvet Underground opus is better than the digital sound. As there are many othher vinyl productions, I hope you won't be disappointed with an other one.

5.0 out of 5 stars Better on vinyl, 2 Aug 2011
One of my long time favorite opus, "If I could only remmember my name" is now reviving thanks to good vinyl sound. Not all vinyl reissues are as fortunate. If you haven't heard this Crosby before, you can hear it now as natural as it sounded 40 years ago... If you feel satisfied with your CD version, this is not for you. But if you miss the original sound, find a record player and just play this one. Gifted inspired musicians playing graceful music.

5.0 out of 5 stars Jefferson Airplane at his best, 19 May 2010
If there was any band ready to deliver a strong message in front of the Woodstock audience, there was the Jefferson Airplane. Their message was one of freedom and aof new way of being human. This took place in the late sixties, these extraordinary years who so much changed the world. Grace Slick with Marty Balint followed by their gifted and passionate musicians did it. This set of CDs restitues the full concert at Woodstock August 1969 and the studio material from Volunteers. If you've got the later already, take it to ear it in your car: I used to think Volunteers was less potent as some previous stuff from the Airplane: error, it's worth listening to it again and again, it's fine music and it didn't aged... Enjoy!

5.0 out of 5 stars overviewed work of the great Donovan, 20 Sep 2009
This review is from: HMS Donovan (Audio CD)
This CD is a little bit surprising as it begins with a musical story half way between a child and an adult story. In fact it probably fits both ages. Subsequent material on this CD is mainly made of songs accompanied by acoustic guitar. Main atmosphere is intimate and charming. These gems are pure and simple songs, very melodic and poetic. Much less related to the star system than the main work of the artist. Maybe this type of music reveals the most introvert side of Donvan. If anyone likes musical sensitive experience, this CD (double LP at the onset) will procure a lot of pleasure, beyond the first rather strange story.
