Dying to Know (A Detective Inspector Berenice Killick Mystery)
Dying to Know (A Detective Inspector Berenice Killick Mystery)

3.0 out of 5 stars Not for me, 1 Jan. 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This was a decent enough read, but it felt that too much was being crammed in and subsequently lost it's pace and realisation because of it. In summary, without spoilers, vicar and his wife have relationship issues, widow of 1st murdered man has issues, new DI Killick has race/gender issues from others in the force, the scientific project has irregularly issues etc etc - this all took away from the main plot because it couldn't focus enough on just one or two key issues! Anyway, plot a bit thin in my view, struggled to read it as found none of the main characters particularly engaging.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great read, recommended, 20 Dec. 2013

A detective can't let go of an old case, where someone was poisoning people with product tampering... and then it starts happening again. The key to unravelling the case is to break through the repressed memories of Sonny. All in all, a very good book, interesting theme and not obvious in the lead up to who/why did it. Well written, good flowing style and believable and likeable characters.

4.0 out of 5 stars Better than you'd think!, 20 Dec. 2013

I wasn't sure if this was going to be a fluffy chick-lit type of book - it wasn't! The main character is a rich socialite, who hides her 'secret hobby' of seeking out serial killers - sounds implausible, and yet this is well written with great characters and an attention grabbing plot. I really enjoyed it, liked the writing style and would recommend.

4.0 out of 5 stars A good yarn!, 15 Dec. 2013

This book is quite a page turner - good characters, particularly the lead Sam Quinn who is very likeable but human. The writing style flows along nicely and there are enough twists and turns to keep this interesting until the end.

3.0 out of 5 stars Very short, not much intrigue, 15 Dec. 2013

Written in the Sherlock Holmes genre supposedly, but it really isn't that clever or engaging. It is very short and whilst the writing style is passable, it isn't particularly engaging or that good a story.

5.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant Idea - No Mess Drawing, 8 Dec. 2013

This review is from: TOMY Rainbow Aquadoodle (Toy)
Lovely item, makes drawing fun without being messy. Came with 2 pens, a paintbrush and some stamps - the pens probably need replacing now as after a few years they get a bit flayed and dirty looking, but fair enough after the amount of time and use. Dries quickly, so if you have used the whole surface, it only takes 10 mins or so to be ready again. Big enough drawing area for some fun, without taking up too much floor space. A good investment.

5.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant, 8 Dec. 2013

Bought these for our son when he was 1 year, he loved building towers and knocking them down, and now a year and a half later, he is dexterous at building cars and robots etc. Also good for colour recognition games and counting! Excellent quality, nice stickers for faces etc, I can see these lasting for many, many years to come and my son wanting to play with them for ages. Also, the storage bag is sturdy and excellent quality - the zip has so far survived a year of tortuous treatment and remains firm!

5.0 out of 5 stars A Christy Must Read, 8 Dec. 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
I read this 20 or so years ago, and then recently downloaded to my kindle - couldn't remember the villain, so was once again staggered by Christy's ingenuity in building a plot so convincing that I was blind to the 'baddie'. Excellent writing, great suspense, superb characters - up there as one of my favourite Christy novels.

4.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Short Stories - but too short!, 8 Dec. 2013

I love Christy books, these 'problems' were interesting, but I love the usual Christy style of elaborate deception and character building, which these lacked a little of. Still great, but not up there with her full length novels.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Christy, 8 Dec. 2013

Ingenious as ever, usual high quality woven plot, great characters and conclusive ending. You can rarely fail with a Christy novel, and this one delivers highly.
