While there is no Eric,Melissa or Patty on this record there is still Love and lots of her. Courtney Love once again provide fans with a good record and more lyrics that will prompt thought from anyone who listens. Although Courtney Love is the only returning member of hole to return with this record it is still a record that fans expect from hole. An album that has the same heart ache and anger as it predecessors. However you can feel the absence of the other members, as the album sounds too much like Courtney's failed début album, with predictable, uninspired rock chord progressions and overall sound. The balance of band members is no longer present. The album plays like a solo record with nothing more than a back up band being instructed to play. But the album does avoid becoming forgettable with honest lyrics, great grunge vocals and most of all attitude that Love has become loved for. A good album all round but will leave fans missing the Hole of days gone by. With my top track picks being 'Pacific coast highway' and 'Someone else's Bed'

This record is truly one of a kind. This album proves Courtney Love to be more than Kurt Cobain's widow. The 1994 grunge album is one that almost defines the genre. The only act to do it better is Nirvana themselves. This album is a woman's voice in an almost exclusively male genre. The album is a great listen with many songs being so clearly personal that the album seems to make for one extended diary entry. The lyrics are both haunting and beautiful, with the record sounding angry, lonely and calm at various pints. A must have for any grunge/alt. rock fan. With my best tracks being 'Jennifer's Body' and 'asking for it'. An album with few to no faults and a record that forces you to listen.

So Tim Burton and Johnny Depp are an amazing duo in film. Nothing they've done so far is other than interesting. But this film is one that is odd even for this pairing. While the film's black and white screen gives it a old Hollywood feel; this is nothing like old Hollywood. Or new Hollywood for that fact. At time the pacing seems slow and makes the dialogue appear dull,l but in fact the truth is that this film is a truly original piece. The performances of all actors in this film are amazing. with each one of them brilliantly complimenting and balancing Depp's performance. A great watch for true film lovers.

5.0 out of 5 stars getting back to better days., 17 Nov. 2013

Well as a massive avril fan it saddens me to say that avril's last album was not great, or even very good. With it being a slow often uninteresting album. But this album combines all of the tricks that made her first three albums great. Taking happy anthem sounds from 'the best damn thing' with lyrics that some what reminiscent of 'under my skin' rounded off by the summer like vibe of 'let go'.
These songs are exciting and lyrically are much better than her last outing with her vocals somewhat returning to her first days. A brilliant album with diverse sounds track to track, meaning there is something for everyone. My track picks being 'hello heartache' and 'bitchin summer'

Sam sparro has really tried hard to get rid of the 'one hit wonder tag' but this album is not going to help. While credible because of it's experimental use of disco sounds the album ultimately falls short of any good listening. The album feels scrambled and un-focus with each song feeling separated in theme both musically and lyrically. His first album gave us the massive hit 'Black & Gold' but also under performed but this album is unfortunately one that will not gain any more fans and may in fact it may very well lose some. The only song on the album which could gain any attention or appreciation is 'i wish i never met you'

Tim Burton is a film director with a distinct and easily recognised style. this book is just snippets into the imagination of the mind with the vision that makes such films as corpse's bride. The short story are quick and easy to read and do not disappoint fans of burton. It's a quick easy if not slightly disturbing in an endearing way .

I got this album on Christmas day 2002 and over ten years later, I still love it. I've practically grown up with this album and i still listen to it. It got more relevant to me as i grew up and it still hits me now. The album is unlike anything else i know. It has a laid back summer sound that is pop rock. It is a rare kind of album that has you listening and singing along with the catchy songs. Perfect summer laid back riffs and melodies. This album clearly is her best album so far and most likely will be the best one of her career. My personal track picks for this album are 'I'm with you' 'Mobile' and 'Too much to ask'

4.0 out of 5 stars Amazingly honest!, 29 Mar. 2013
This review is from: Cyndi Lauper: a Memoir (Hardcover)
The girl that just wanted to have fun had it and a hell of a lot more. This brave and honest memoir tells all about her life. From her earliest memories to the day she left home and her rise to fame to today. The book starts with her leaving home and recounts the hardships (believe me they were hardships) she went through until and after she achieved fame. While it has shocks and moment where you just think, "WHAT THE HELL" there are just as many laughs. The brutal truth is always present in this memoir and it is an addictive read. You won't want to put it down until you have read it all. As well as being incredibly honest and brave it is well written and really does give the reader enjoyment. Great read about an icon of the 80's.

Ok so there's no massive action or love scenes. No mysteries or any of that. This film is just one day shown for what it is. Fun and filled with things that make it unique. A good quirky film that is an easy watch and offer a great afternoons viewing. I would tell anyone to watch it at least once.

Ok so i'm an avril fan and this may be a bit biased but i think this cd is amazing. The remixes are cool and let you listen to the songs in a completely different way. But the acoustic versions of many of her hits on this cd are what makes it. These versions are laid back and really show the songs in a bare and truthful manor and really show off avril's vocal ability. Essential for any fan, plus a good listen for those who are just curious.
