5.0 out of 5 stars A must have album for any musical theatre enthusiast!, 6 Sept. 2015
A superb collection of West End rarities put together with much care and attention. The booklet alone is fascinating! The musical material contained on the album is brilliant and contains many forgotten gems from a plethora of forgotten flop West End musicals. A must have album for any musical theatre enthusiast.

5.0 out of 5 stars Streisand's Finest Solo Album Since 'Guilty'!, 23 Sept. 2012
This review is from: Guilty Too (Audio CD)
There was much hype and anticipation surrounding the release of 'Guilty Too' and the album certainly lived up to those expectations! Streisand and Barry Gibb's second album collaboration presented a well produced collection of songs across several musical genres. From the power ballad 'Stranger In A Strange Land' to the high charged disco number 'Night Of My Life', to the soft bossa nova feel of 'Golden Dawn'. A personal highlight was Streisand's cover of the Bee Gees / Andy Gibb song '(Our Love) Don't Throw It All Away' which Barbra truly makes her own. The closing number 'Letting Go' is extremely touching and sentimental.

All in all, 'Guilty Too' ticked all the boxes and stands up as one of Streisand's finest album achievements,

5.0 out of 5 stars Julie Andrews & Henry Mancini - A Match Made in Musical Heaven!, 23 Sept. 2012
This review is from: Victor Victoria (Audio CD)
Henry Mancini and Leslie Bricusse wrote some incredible songs for Blake Edwards' 1982 film 'Victor / Victoria' which are all showcased on this expanded and remastered edition of the film soundtrack. The album also features many of the Mancini cues and themes used in the film but were not released on the soundtrack. Another bonus highlight is the complete recording of Julie Andrews singing 'Cherry Ripe'.

However it's the Mancini / Bricusse songs which shine - 'Le Jazz Hot', 'Crazy World', 'You And Me', 'The Shady Dame From Seville'.....

'Victor / Victoria' was Julie Andrews' shining hour, and this album encapsulates all that magic.

4.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic tuneful new musical!, 19 Jun. 2012
Really thrilled to discover this fantastic new musical by George Stiles and Anthony Drewe. I was already familiar with some of the tracks that were featured on the 'Spoonful' live album which arguably are still the standout tracks.

A real glittering cast of current West End stars which in my opinion was just slightly let down by the male lead. This was sung originally by Gareth Gates who brought more individuality to the songs.

Nevertheless it's still great to discover a new musical which is clearly ready for the West End.

5.0 out of 5 stars The ultimate Dana collection!, 19 Jun. 2012
If you're a fan of Dana, this collection is a MUST! Featuring 3 complete solo albums from the mid to late 70s and a wide selection of bonus tracks which include rare B sides and some German language recordings!

By far the best album of the set is 'The Girl Is Back In Town' released in 1979. So great to hear 'Dana do Disco'! Personally 'Break The Ice' was the standout track from this set and should have been released as a single.

Other track highlights include 'Thieves Of Paris', 'Slip Away' and 'How Can I Prove My Love'. I wonder if Dana's earlier recordings for Rex including her first tracks recorded in Ireland in 1968 will ever see the light of day?

5.0 out of 5 stars THE Musical Theatre Album for 2012!, 19 Jun. 2012
So pleased to finally see a new album from Dave Willetts, arguably one of the finest and unique voices in the West End.

And what an album! So nice to hear all the live tracks and in particular 'The Phantom' Medley! As for the unreleased studio tracks, these are a real treat! Particular highlights include the MOR pop song 'Stay Awhile' and the very radio friendly duet 'We Love Who We Love' performed with Carol Woods.

With 21 tracks and nearly 80 minutes of music, this is true value for money. You won't be dissapointed!
