The Lesser Key of Solomon
The Lesser Key of Solomon
by Samuel Liddell MacGregor Mathers
Edition: Paperback
Price: £2.30

4.0 out of 5 stars Recommended, 8 July 2011
Complex because of its age but very worthwhile grimoire. I recommend the 2nd spirit, Agares, who is quick acting and strong.

4.0 out of 5 stars Recommendation, 8 July 2011
Complex because of its age but very worthwhile text. I recommend the 2nd spirit, Agares, who is quick acting and works with little fuss. I used Agares to remove an unwanted house guest.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent, 15 May 2008
Probably the most comprehensive occult book I have ever read. Despite the name of the text, it deals with far more than spells; also having background into the various spirits the spells will deal with and the basics and history of practising magic. Great for the beginner or advanced witch.

Fabulous Creatures and Other Magical Beings
Fabulous Creatures and Other Magical Beings

2.0 out of 5 stars Misleading, 15 May 2008
One thinks this is going to be a book discussing these mythological creatures accurately, instead one gets a book based on a fictional organisation whose fictional exploits are recounted. If you want something to please a child obsessed with fantasy, this is a great book, for any other purposes it is inapposite.

3.0 out of 5 stars Beyond being bright and colourful, has little more to offer, 15 May 2008
Although a book containing many entries of the various types of fairies, there is not a great deal of information on any of the creatures listed beyond a small paragraph. It mostly consists of poorly edited photographs and images to make up pictures of the beings described. It further deals purely in mythology, not hazarding what such beings may be in reality (if they even exist). To its credit, it does raise partially some interesting issues e.g., the similarity between UFO abductions and being "fairy lead".

4.0 out of 5 stars Sometimes unbelievable, but overall...good, 15 May 2008
Although wholly unbelievable in places (indeed, one often finds it extremely difficult to believe the author has experienced what he alleges he has), the book has a very good overview of most vampire lore and discusses some very pertinent points that trouble modern day occultists e.g., are vampires astral entities or corpses?

Sexual Alchemy: Magical Intercourse with Spirits
Sexual Alchemy: Magical Intercourse with Spirits
by Donald Tyson
Edition: Paperback

4.0 out of 5 stars Good, not great, 15 May 2008
I agree that Tyson wholly attempts to distinguish between magical theory and the interactions of spirits-humans in reality. I also agree that this "reality" is only his beliefs -- somehow he links every spirit in existence to sex e.g., all poltergeist phenomena is actually sex spirits feeding on the energy of adolescents. Despite this, Tyson has many refreshing views which can be easily believed and engaged with.

3.0 out of 5 stars Overall..okay, but disappointingly predictable, 15 May 2008
I think very much that my title says it all...it was an okay narrative, quite exciting and chilling in places, but, in the end, with Harry defeating Voldemort, I felt like I had wasted my time reading all of the books....nothing exciting happened, just a predictable "good beats evil" cliche.

5.0 out of 5 stars Truly the Good spell book, 19 Oct. 2003
This is an excellent spell book which anyone can find useful, the beginner will find the lovely spells easy to cast and appropriate to there life style as the ingrediants are very easy to find and an experienced practioner will find the spells great and wonderful to cast for any purpose. Spells for love, prosperity, the well being of a pet, to burn away a fever with a simple salt and fire spell, happiness and candles, oils and great gypsy recipes. She explains at the beginning that magick is nature and we can all learn from the great enlightenment of spells and charms that have been passed down from our ancestors. An advisable book for anyone that follows the Wiccan rede- "An' in harm to none. Do as thou wilt" Blessed be!!!

4.0 out of 5 stars Not for immediate beginners, 19 Oct. 2003
This is an inspiring and magickal book but it is not for beginners because it does not involve anything about tools, meditation, visualisation, wiccan ethics or anything a beginner needs to know. This book is written for the experienced beginner, someone who has mastered the basics. For beginners I would advise you read anything by Silver Ravenwolf especially Solitary Witch (absolutley everything is explained in the confinds of this book), To light a sacred flame, To ride a silver broomstick or Exploring Spellcraft by Gerina Dunwich, Bucklands complete book of witchcraft, The craft by Dorothy Morrison and Spellweaving by Sally Morningstar. This is not for beginners because some of the concepts may be hard to understand and you must already know hoe to prepare yourself for spellcasting. Contained within are very old inspiring spells and are fantastically magickal!! She gives a great section on making talismans and what to inscribe onto them and a section on sabbats (samhain, imbolc etc). A definite buy for when you are more experienced with the craft. Blessed Be!!!
