excellent little cushion. comes with a little handle, which makes this little fella formidable in any pillow fight (i winded one opponent with it - he was unable to collect himself for about four long minutes).

diminuitive size and inconspicuous design makes this cushion handy to have to the side of the room for convenient use at parties and get togethers. Zip on cushion, which is handy as a stash.

4.0 out of 5 stars worth buying, especially if you can get it quite cheap, 3 Jun 2012
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Very good, and met all my expectations. Pema is a down to earth, gentle and humourous person. i find it very easy to relate to her, and she gets the teaching across wonderfully.

however, one of the lectures seems to be cut short abruptly while Pema is still talking. can anyone else testify to this, or do i have a faulty copy / dvd player. The fault is on the first disk.

if this fault does indeed feature on all the disks - due to terrible editing - then i would definitely avoid paying much more than ten pounds (i bought from an independent seller at about 12 pounds, Amazon was selling at a whopping price of about 23 pounds).

5.0 out of 5 stars Very deep, tribal and emotive...Dubstep??, 28 May 2012

Deep / Earthy / Soulful. I suppose the work could be loosely thrown in with the Dubstep genre, but that would not be entirely fair. This is very original work with heaps of soul; listening feels like having the whole history of the human race march through the chest. My only gripe with the cd, is that at under twenty minutes, it just doesn't feel long enough!

Excellent artwork too :)

Didn't make it through this collection of short stories. The stories are totally forgettable; they are peopled by the most uninteresting two dimentsional charactors i have ever come across in any piece of literature. Lin seems to limit the charactors personalities to pretentious, banal musings that just came across as ill-thought-out, flippant waffle; and tries to hammer these home with ridiculous metaphors. I think Lin is trying to convince us of some really fascinating inner-world that simply doesn't exist.

SAVE YOUR MONEY.

There is nothing to see here.

This is the first full length album from Tesseract.

I was a little disappointed to see that most of the tracks were already released on the 'CONCEALING FATE E.P', thus leaving a minority of unreleased material. Therefore i would have given the release 4.5 - but i wasn't permitted.

However, taekn by itself and judged on its own merits, the album is certainly a 5.

Tesseract are going to be HUGE.

some 40 years after turning his back on the psychedelic counterculture out of which the Pink Floyd grew, David Gilmour only goes on to collaborate with The Orb in creating the druggiest, most flashback inducing soundscapes i have probably ever heard. Seriously.

A real aural treat. One not to be missed if you enjoy the great David Gilmour, as well as some of the psychedelic works or Amorphous Androgynous.

AVOID if you are looking for 'nice songs with nice lyrics'.

Dave Gilmour contributes handsomely to this record, but it is by far a 'guitar hero' record. An album for true lovers of sound.

The Secret
The Secret

4.0 out of 5 stars It's not a secret., 15 Jan 2011
This review is from: The Secret (Hardcover)
The book is written in an annoying and at times condescending prose. The contributors to the book offer their statements about the power that 'The Secret has had in theior lives. Many of these contributions are at times very wishy washy, and at other times just seem plain arrogant. It often reminded me of an annoying American QVC commercial - '...but since i discovered The Secret i can (scale walls or whatever), and now YOU can too' etc. Also, the writer, in my opinion takes the theory to crass extremes when, at the beggining, she states that, in effect, the millions of Jews murdered in concentration camps in some way deserved this due to the nature of their thoughts. I found this to be totally shocking, and totally un-necessary argument to make in conveying the message of the book.

Behind the highly suspect delivery of the book, however, the more tolerant reader can appreciate the wisdom thaqt the writer is trying to communicate. Some interesting ideas that centre aqround the idea of using visualisations and positive thinking to bring about postive change in any areas of your life. As other reviewers have also noted, the ideas are far from new. Visualisations and meditation have been central to many Eastern faiths for many thousands of years, and many Shamanic rites contain some element of visualisation methods to bring about change.

Definitely a good introduction to the power of visualisations, and not without its inspiring moments - but quite possibly one of the most annoyingly presented books i have ever read. Buy this book, but only if you cannot find a better book on visualisations in meditation.

Easy Way to Control Alcohol
Easy Way to Control Alcohol

5.0 out of 5 stars quitting drinking alcohol is as easy as pulling a hand out of the fire., 9 Dec 2010

i have read other books on the subject and have not foudn them very helpful. After reading this book, i realise that the other books justify alcohol and its place in society. They usually paint a picture of the normal drinker and the alcoholic, and of alcohol as a friendly and advantagous drug if you can 'control' it. One book even went as far as to say that you can press pressure points in your body to help you to control your intake...

...what a load of rubbish.

This book is where it is at. Allen explains that 90 per cent of the population has been brainwashed into thinking that alcohol has many benifits when in fact, the opposite is true. Mr Carr describes how every drinker, from the occasional and the moderate, right through to the chronic alcoholic, are all victims of the same fallacies and are merely at diferent stages of the trap.

Thos first drinks were horrible, foul tasting and disorienting, but as we willed ourselves to drink for 'the benifits' we became hooked on alcoholic bevereges. Allen rightly explains that noobody, not even the chronic alcoholic, needed alcohol before they first drank the alcohol, and that everyone was confident and sociable without having to poison themselves.

I can't recommend this book highly enough. Before i even got to the last chapter i just wanted to start living my life without the blinkers on. It just seems like the only logical thing to do, and therefore requires no will power whatsoever.

Cheers to freedom.

P.S i also quit smoking over a year ago after having read Allen Carrs EASYWAY TO QUIT SMOKING and would therefore recommend any of his books.

excellent work. this is probably my favourite work associated with The Mars Volta and i can already tell i am going to play this one to death. Everything that was awesome about The Mars Volta just got better (sorry Cedric Bixlar-Zavala). the vocals offered by Omar and Ximena are hypnotic when they are not euphoric, and the rhythms and musicianship will not disappoint. All songs are in spanish, but this is great for the person who speaks little or no Spanish as the ear is drawn more to the sounds rather than the meaning of the words. This makes each listen as fresh as the one before. Every track is plain awesome. A good balance of sounds throughout - this album will kick you in the knackers while kissing you on the face.

Fans of Mew or The Sound of Animals Fighting might appreciate this album

this was one of Omars first solo releases, and it's totally instrumental i would strongly recommend Apocalypse inside of an orange over this album, as not only does the album have some of the same ideas in it, but the production and delivery is much better, in my opinion. The tracks have enough going on to keep you interested without wanting to press the skip button. hope this review helps
