Does everything it says on the box, seamless connection when exiting and leaving your vehicle and easy to operate. Mine stays charged for weeks, (depending on use I suppose)

I obviously didn't read the reviews for this book carefully enough.
It started off really well, it took some concentration to keep up with the story as it was constantly going backwards and forwards in time and it's not the sort of book I found I could pick up and put down and leave for a while without starting at the beginning again. However it was a gripping story........ until the 'supernatural' starting to creep in which made it then lose all credibility and by the time I had read 55% of the book I gave up reading it as to me it was just getting silly. Without the supernatural events I could have thoroughly enjoyed it and for many people this was ideal but just not for me.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wicked..., 15 May 2013

There are novels about the SAS and there are novels about the police, & there are novels about the Secret Service, but this is the first novel I have read that skilfully combines all three in a page turning, action packed, constantly moving, ripping yarn. Great first attempt at a book. I am greatly looking froward to the next adventure of our hero. Well done Matt.

Item exactly as described & good service from supplier, however, device is a bit flimsy & unfortunately the adapter sockets are on the underneath of the device when inserted in the socket on my VCR, this means that all the cables are pointing downwards & so I had to raise my VCR several inches off the desk to accommodate them. One is then unable to see the in/out switch which is a bit of a nuisance, otherwise ok, it works.

3.0 out of 5 stars Mixed feelings, 4 Mar 2011
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Good service from supplier & contents contained everything required, however, I have a Mac & I think this unit has been developed primarily for Windows. Instruction booklet was next to useless & virtually unreadable without a magnifying glass. True there was a copy on the disc but that contained no more detail than the paper version which was a not very good translation of some sort. Disc was of no use whatsoever in the installation process & was out of date for my version of Snow Leopard, eventually found my way to the website to download updated driver but there was no instruction anywhere that that may be necessary. Took me several hours to install and configure, definitely not "plug & play" for the average user where a Mac is concerned. The actual operation of the device was not brilliant & for some reason the operating lights did not work. Loud background hum on sound track which was not possible to remove using the control panel.
Resultant video to DVD quality was average (but that can be for all sorts of reasons not involving the device). Would I buy it again? Probably not.

5.0 out of 5 stars Sawday's French Self catering 2010 edition, 23 Aug 2010
As with all Sawday books as soon as you pick them up you notice how substantial & comfortable they feel in your hand, the covers have a lovely 'soft feel' about them & you can tell straight away that they are a quality publication. We found Alastair's introduction in the book enlightening & amusing and always a good read. The maps at the front are a good source of information but not with pinpoint accuracy but to be fair this is pointed out in the preface, however if you haven't read the preface you can go adrift a bit but that has only happened to me on one occasion. Now I always make reference to a proper map.

This is a really well produced book which is both pleasant just to browse through on a cold winters night or use as a guide to your next holiday property. Not a lot of entries for two people on their own & some of the properties are very expensive but I suppose if more than one family are sharing the costs then they don't work out so high.

There are also an excellent series of Indices at the back of the book which assist in finding places in your desired region or for a particular property name, those with wheelchair facilities and the location of amenities etc. All in all a very handy book with absolutely beautiful properties & excellent descriptions & pictures. I think because so much experience by the compilers goes into each book I have never been disappointed with any of them.

Overall this new 2010 edition is really informative & a brilliant guide for when you are touring around. Just right for taking with one wherever one goes, especially when combined with the B&B book. One could plan ones whole holiday around them. We like the addition of the "Worth a Visit" entries as well. Guide prices for meals is also very handy. All in all a first class book.

Italy Special Places to Stay (Alastair Sawday's Special Places to Stay)
Italy Special Places to Stay (Alastair Sawday's Special Places to Stay)

5.0 out of 5 stars Great guide for special accomodation.., 16 Mar 2008
As usual with the Sawday books, as soon as you pick this one up it looks & feels quality & as ever it lives up to this impression on the inside as well. Alastair & his team have done it again.
As a result of a recommendation to the Sawday series from a friend I've stayed in several places in both the UK & France & have enjoyed every one of them, your hosts are always pleased to see you & delight in inviting you into their homes, they are obviously not just in it for the money & have been excellent value
The beautiful photographs of the properties never seek to disguise the real thing, what you see is what you get. The descriptions are always fair & honest, read them carefully for all their little nuances & you won't be disappointed. In short, if you want to stay somewhere really special and different then this book is a must. There are dozens of varieties of places to stay and include B&B, self catering & unique hotels.
To find where to stay in your desired area is dead easy as the book also contains some basic maps of the country & indicates the whereabouts of the various properties. These are then referenced to the entry number in the book. You'll still need a decent road map to find your way to them though.
Take time also to read the books introduction as it gives a valuable insight into the nature of the country & its people that you are visiting. It will also tell you about the Sawday philosophy which in itself is very interesting. I can't wait to give this book a test drive; I certainly won't go to Italy without it.
