5.0 out of 5 stars Very special game and an enviable exclusive title for XB1 ..., 8 Jan. 2015
Very special game and an enviable exclusive title for XB1. It feels very fresh to play and you never feel punished for experimentation and 'messing about'. The level of polish in graphics and audio is incredible with gameplay that's extremely tight and fluid: there's tons of interesting variation for enemy encounters. Essential game for all XBox One owners.

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome game..., 8 Nov. 2012
Doom 3 is still a brilliant horror action adventure and I've really enjoyed playing it through again on a big LCD. It's one of the most atmospheric and creepy games ever made: up there with the first Resident Evil. In fact the survival horror vein in Doom 3 is surprisingly strong and no other game before or since has pushed lighting to such dark extremes. The ominous prospect of an ambush around every dark corner keeps you on edge and the hellish imagery gets under your skin when the lights are down and the sound is cranked up as it was intended. The Mars base setting is a stunningly realised environment: it's like a scifi 'Overlook Hotel' and the superb art work and concepts still hold up well today, especially with this remastered edition which runs at a solid 60fps with improved texture resolutions (if you have a 3d TV you're in for a treat). Doom 3 was developed by a mere handful of developers back in 2004 and what they achieved was a milestone in video game graphics. The gameplay might be a little basic by today's standards but it's rock solid and still very satisfying. Its a game anyone who loves horror and shooter action will enjoy.

5.0 out of 5 stars A masterpiece..., 7 Nov. 2012
This review is from: JFK [1992] [DVD] (DVD)
After 20 years this film has lost none of it's power. The atmosphere of paranoia and intelligent speculation that Oliver Stones conveys is unsurpassed and it remains essential and original cinema. A stylistic triumph that seamlessly blends exciting drama with documentary style immediacy and rawness by using the technique of mixing different film stocks and formats. Regardless of what you believe, this film is sublime entertainment. The Oscar winning editing stands out but all aspects of JFK are crafted with great skill and attention to detail. From Robert Richardson's evocative images, the driving and suspenseful John Williams score and a collection of brilliant performances from some of the best american character actors around. No matter how many times I watch JFK it's enthralling from start to finish. Check out the directors cut for an even more satisfying experience.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great action game..., 2 Oct. 2012
Resident Evil 6 is the huge, high quality action adventure I was hoping for. It has the biggest and most ambitious story of the series providing lots of variety in the levels and locations. The graphics and sound are some of the best you will see on current consoles with loads of great effects and animations. The controls are also excellent and offer more freedom of movement than ever before in a Resident Evil game. This does take a little getting used to but the enemies now move considerably more so it serves to intensify the action well. It's true that the moniker of survival horror does not really apply to this entry in the series but there are many surprises and some great creature battles to compensate. The inventory is typically idiosyncratic but it doesn't detract from the games enjoyment and personally I liked it. Anyone who enjoys video games will find something to like here and the potential for co-op is well realised making this a blast to play with friends. Only a fanatical hater could give it a low score like the first review here.

5.0 out of 5 stars Superb fun with amazing graphics..., 22 Mar. 2012

Perfect controls and stunning level design make RAGE a true pleasure to play. Unquestionably one of the best looking videogames out there it's a breath of fresh air in the face of Battlefield and COD with some extremely compelling gameplay. Buggy racing and light RPG elements are a nice addition but make no mistake: this is a focused action game. The single player campaign is generous and the multiplayer will keep you coming back for more with a great co-op mode. If you liked IDs previous games you're gonna love it!

4.0 out of 5 stars Superb action game. Not buggy as some say., 15 Nov. 2011
This review is from: RAGE (PC DVD) (DVD-ROM)
Its sad to see so many ignorant people reviewing this game as 'broken' or 'unfinished'. After the game was released AMD / ATI released video drivers that broke compatibility with RAGE in order to sponsor Battlefield 3 and give it maximum focus. Therefore you must use the Catalyst 11.10 preview 2 driver package and NOT the final 11.10 package. This will run RAGE flawlessly as intended and I haven't had a single crash with these drivers. If you know nothing about PC hardware and drivers then I recommend you buy the XBox 360 version instead.

The game itself looks stunning and despite its more simple approach is very enjoyable with great weapons and some hilarious driving combat. It has a very light RPG frame work but don't be mislead: this is a relatively linear game so people expecting a true RPG style experience should look elsewhere. Rage has virtually nothing in common with Fall Out 3 except that it looks phenomenal in comparison and runs silky smooth. A must for fans of the action genre.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fun and beautiful FPS action, 6 Nov. 2011
This review is from: RAGE (Xbox 360) (Video Game)
Games like RAGE are too few and far between these days. This game is simple to pick up and very addictive. Its moody visuals have amazing attention to detail and present a game world where you constantly want to see what's around the corner.

It has a pseudo RPG structure but is not an RPG. This game is for anyone who enjoys FPS action and adventure.

5.0 out of 5 stars The only Flash book I can recommend, 16 Jun. 2011
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
I've been working with Flash for 5 years and still find this book to be an indispensable reference. It's perfect for newbies and veterans alike and cuts right to the chase. It is not for people who need concepts explained 3 times over and is perhaps a little too brief on certain subjects. Regardless it's the only tome on AS 3.0 outside of Adobes own help pages that I use time and again. Brilliant.
