Fast, clear, accurate and works on vibration so can be used even when there is lots of background noise. Metronome feature is useful too.

4.0 out of 5 stars Excellent model - get some red enamel paint though., 18 Feb. 2015

Can't fault it as a model - goes together well with no gaps and looks amazing when done. It loses a star because the red gloss paint is horrible to use. The others are fine though, just remember to wash all parts in soapy water before removing from the sprue to remove any residue from the moulding process. This will help the paint go on better. Look at the Airfix YouTube channel for some really good tips. I bought a tin of Humbrol Enamel gloss red instead and it now hangs from my children's bedroom ceiling.

Some of the decals are less than 1mm square so a pair of tweezers is essential.

TOP TIP, get some of the clear mini 'Command Hooks' and some invisible sewing thread if hanging models from the ceiling. The command hooks stick really well and can be removed without leaving a mark.

Looks good, simple controls (good if you're heating baby milk at 3am while half asleep), ceramic interior (won't rust) very quiet in operation and heats evenly throughout. What's not to like?

This is perfect as a first model. Not too difficult and stunning results. The reason I recommend this as a first Airfix model is that if you go to YouTube and search for 'Official Airfix' they've done an instructional video featuring this model which shows you all the glueing and painting techniques, together with other tips to get a superb result. You can then use these techniques on subsequent models.

I'd also recommend getting the Red Arrows kit at the same time. Two iconic planes, plus you get red and white paints with the Red Arrow so you can mix them to make a light pink to paint the pilots' faces on these and all your other models.

5.0 out of 5 stars The best available. Set aside a weekend to do it to perfection., 23 Aug. 2014

This review is from: Oven Mate (Kitchen & Home)
This is exactly the same stuff that Lakeland sell except for the branding and the price - this is much cheaper. Same logo, same bottle, same brush, same before & after pictures.

It does exactly what it says it will, cleans with no scrubbing whatsoever but if the oven's particularly bad it will take a while. I used it on an oven which hadn't been touched in three years so was caked with thick burnt on grease etc. The glass door was almost black. The first application was left on overnight as was advised for particularly dirty ovens. This removed 99% of it, but a few spots remained. I coated them again, and they had melted off after a few hours.

You need to be prepared to use 2-3 kitchen rolls to get rid of all the brown goo, and a few sponges to get rid of all the residue. However, the oven is now spotless. It's no exaggeration to say it looks brand new. The inside gleams so much the oven light reflects perfectly in the bottom. The door glass is spotless and sparkles.

It's not so good on the wire shelves though - it's difficult to apply properly using the brush. I find that Oven Pride (the one with the bag) is better for shelves as they stay submerged in the liquid.

The stuff looks and smells fairly innocuous, but don't get any on your skin. I got a pinprick sized spot on my finger through a hole in the glove and it stung like mad. When painting it on to the inside of the oven, paint in single strokes away from you to avoid flicking it on to yourself.

In summary, this stuff works brilliantly with NO scrubbing. You just need to be prepared to leave it on overnight, and to use more than one application. If your oven's really bad and you want it 100 % brand new and gleaming, set aside a weekend to live on cold food or takeaways.

1.0 out of 5 stars Utter rubbish, 13 April 2014
= Durability:1.0 out of 5 stars  = Fun:1.0 out of 5 stars  = Educational:2.0 out of 5 stars
I gave it two stars for educational value as at least it gives children a lesson in how to handle disappointment. I've seen better quality toys drop out of a Christmas cracker - the cardboard box it comes in must have cost more to make than the toy itself. Not worth the hassle to return it so it went in the bin. Surprised Guinness World Records have put their name to this.

4.0 out of 5 stars Works as it should but beware of 'free gift'., 3 Feb. 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Can't fault the product (it works) or the delivery time (a couple of weeks to come from China). Of slight concern was the inclusion of some sort of three pin to two pin shaver/toothbrush adapter which didn't have a CE safety mark on it and was so dangerous looking it went straight in the outside bin to make sure my children didn't get hold of it. The metal contacts were nowhere near recessed enough in to the plug meaning live parts would be easily accessible. Why it was included I have no idea as it can't be used with the charger as it works with USB.

If ordering this product for a child, make sure you intercept the package in case you get one of these adapters.

5.0 out of 5 stars For Mondeo, 3 Feb. 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
If you have a Mondeo from 2000 - 2005, this is the only one worth going for unless you want to pay Ford three times as much for the same part with a Ford logo stamped on it, or want to spend out £20 every few months on cheap aftermarket ones (my £22 'lifetime guarantee' one lasted 2 months). It's a different shape to the ones fitted to 2000 - 2003 models but the connections are identical. This one has the oval shaped socket, they do an identical version but with the squarer socket for 2005-2007 models.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great fun but flimsy and overpriced., 24 Nov. 2013
= Durability:2.0 out of 5 stars  = Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars  = Educational:4.0 out of 5 stars

I remember having one of these as a child so couldn't wait to fly it with my children.

It certainly flies well on a calm day, and glides smoothly to the ground once it's done flapping. You can control the direction of flight to a certain extent by adjusting the tail. My son likes to set it so it flies in a circle and lands almost at our feet.

I suppose my only complaint is how cheap and flimsy it feels. Clearly it has to be made of lightweight plastic in order to fly, but it is very flimsy. It comes with a spare rubber band, but it probably won't last long enough to ever need it. One of the wings snapped fairly early on after a crash landing, but I was able to improvise a splint using glue and a cocktail stick. I won't be buying another when it breaks completely - fun as it is, it really should be priced at less than £5. It can't cost more than a few pence to make.

As long as you're happy that it won't last very long, it's very good fun.

SEE BELOW FOR CHEAP SIMPLE MOD FOR IMPROVED PERFORMANCE

I bought this as a step-up from the S107G micro indoor helicopter (which is absolutely brilliant). I'd recommend starting on one of those first and mastering the controls.

To look at it, it's almost identical but make no mistake this is a BIG helicopter. As with the little one, you need to give it a bit of throttle and quickly get it about three or four feet off the ground. Any less than that and the air turbulence will cause 'ground effect' and make it misbehave. Once you've got it hovering, use the trim control to stop it spinning left or right. Once trimmed it should stay pointing in the same direction.

On a still day it flies really well, and is very easy to control but be warned even the SLIGHTEST breath of wind will blow it off course. I found that once you get a slight breeze, even if you fly it full throttle into the wind it'll hover if you're lucky or go backwards if you're not. This is even with the control set to Fast on the remote. On a still day however, it'll buzz around quite nicely.

I did find the forward performance improved with a simple modification though. Buy a larger rear rotor for a Double Horse DH 9104, part number 9104-26. The fitting is identical so it just screws straight on. However, the pitch is opposite so you need to reverse the tail motor. To do this is very simple, just follow the tail rotor wire back to the circuit board and unplug the connector. Carefully lever the wires out of the connector with tweezers or a watchmaker's screwdriver, swap them round and plug it back in. This sounds more complicated than it actually is. If you don't do this, the helicopter will fly backwards when you move the control lever forwards, and vice versa.

One more thing - as with all RC heli's this is NOT A TOY. It's a big heli, and the blades spin VERY fast to get it airborne. I've no intention of trying it but I would have thought those blades could easily break fingers. If this heli hits you, you will be going to hospital. If it hits an animal, it probably wouldn't live to tell the tale. If you start to lose control of it, cut the power and let it drop. Better that than serious damage to people/pets/your neighbour's BMW.
