5.0 out of 5 stars Far superior to GTA:SAN AN & SAINTS ROW!, 25 Sept. 2006
= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Just Cause (Xbox 360) (Video Game)
When i first heard about just cause, it was only a few months before its released. I thought it looked okay and was quite supprised that not many magazines had picked up on it, through its development stages.

I bought saints row 2 weeks ago and dead rising last week, and i thought, that was me for a while,no other game could pull me from them.

From the opening, i wasnt too impressed. The ingame movies are abit bland, and presentation, well the menu could of looked abit better. I was pretty much unimpressed right until the very moment you gain control of rico, when he is free falling from the plane. WOW!.

Just cause launches you into a sort of desperado/james bond action adventure. Your left not really knowing what to do from the start as youve just been launched from a plane, parachuted onto a beach where its all kicking off and then having to man a mounted gun on the back of a vechile taking out jeeps, helicopters etc.

Once you have completed this all settles and then you can get into the game.

Graphics - amazing!, this game has the best draw distance in any gta style game. Fly as high as you can in a plane or copter then freefall, its breathtaking. Ive done it many times and cant get over just how beautiful the game looks. Night and day transitions are amazing too, its very much on par with oblivion.

Sound - Sound effects are pretty standard, however good use of surround sound. The freefalling ski dive music is very peaceful, and the music is spot on whenever any action takes place. Voices are abit cheesy but tie in well with the game.

Gameplay - The game handles far better than saints row. Things like flying off cliffs on motorbikes or flying around on copters just add to the fun. All vechiles handle really well, apart from boats which are abit dodgy to control but still fun.

Lasting Appeal - This is where it really stands out. When i first checked the map screen i thought, wow, its big. Thats until i then realised that the map zooms out. This is much bigger than gta san andreas. There are many varied and fun missions to play, it will keep you going for a long long time.

Overall. This game is a must of xbox360 owners. Im not sure that ps2 or xbox owners will appreciate that game as much as what i have due to limitations. This is quite possibly the best game for the xbox360. Definently worth choosing over saints row.

4.0 out of 5 stars As close to GTA as you can get, 3 Sept. 2006
= Fun:4.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Saints Row (Xbox 360) (Video Game)
Lets get one thing out of the way, yes this game looks, plays and feels like GTA, but is that a bad thing?

Since buy my xbox 360 way back then when it was first released, I have been eagerly awaiting a game that can easily eat a few spares hours a day when need be, and keep wanting to go back for more. Oblivion cam pretty close but Saints Row does it perfectly.

From the moment the game opens you will feel like someone has taken GTA san andreas and given it a major face lift and more.

The games visuals are very impressive yet I have read many reviews of this game, saying that the games visual flaws are annoying and a major let dowm (cars dissappearing of screen, graphic clipping etc). I can assure you that the games visuals are a massive improvement over gta san andreas in terms of graphic quality and graphic issues.

The games storylines could be a bit better but they are no means dull.

The sounds are fantastic, you can hear gun fires all around you in stilwaters city's and if you go searching you will no doubt see some forms of shoutout taking place near you. Stilwater lives and breathes around you, much like san andreas did.

If you have an xbox 360 you simply must own this, apart from not being original, this games is very much a must buy!

4.0 out of 5 stars Rooting, tooting, looting.....and of course shooting!, 6 Jan. 2006
This review is from: GUN (Xbox) (Video Game)
Im not a big fan of western films, never have been and probably never will be. But saying that a few good western films have entertained me in the past, so when this game cropped up, i thought i would check it out.
First things first, yes the old cliche, it is GTA in the days of cowboys and indians.
Presentation - Gun is very well presented. From the opening scenes you can tell that the game is going to run on a good story. Loading screens take a abit of time from the main menu but once the game is actually loaded they are non existant
Graphics - Xbox pulls this off well. The landscapes are vast and distant. The viewing distance is pretty far so you can see rocks and valleys from a good distance without noticable clipping. The player models are well detailed, with some nice cigar smoke effects from some of the customers. I do have a slight gripe that i wish there was some more detail in the game. Where the landscapes are big, they could use a little more detail along with the town buildings as well.
Sound - Excellent soundtrack, sounds like its being ripped straight from a major hollywood movie. The game has a good supporting cast with the likes of Lance Henrikson (aliens, the quick and the dead), Ron Pearlman (alien resurrection, hellboy) and tom skerritt (alien) hmmmm am i sensing a cast theme here?
The general sound effects sound great also.
Gameplay - Gun plays fairly well, the controls are not too difficult to handle and the horse riding is very simplistic. Actually using your rifle while riding could of proven to be very difficult, but the controls in the game make it pretty straight forward with a good decent difficulty curve to master. The missions in the game a pretty varied however they do pretty much involve shooting folk.
Last Appeal - Gun isnt that difficult a game to complete. With the side missions on offer such as ransoms, helping towns folk, marhsal duty, card games and extras like finding gold mines to dig, it should keep you going for a while. I cant help feel though that the developers could of added more stuff in this game. Perhaps a little more variety in missions and a more missions itself would be good. I dont think the game would take most folk more than a week or 2 to complete and once done there isnt really much more to go back for.
Overall View
The game does good, it has enough for those that are looking something abit more different that driving around streets completing missions (which there seems to be alot around). gun is good, and just about that.

4.0 out of 5 stars Not a bad flick, 17 Nov. 2005
This review is from: White Noise [DVD] (DVD)
Its good to see michael keaton back on the big screen where he belongs. Its been a while since i have seen him in anything so when i seen the advertisment for white noise it was one of the reasons why i decided to see it in the cinema.
As creepy films go this has it all. The film uses the good old "todays technology" to freak us out because the films plot is played through everyday tv's white noise.
Theres not really much to say about this film without giving without giving the plot away. It does have a horrible hint of cheeziness at the end which then suddenly trys to slap you in the face with a brisk split second scene.
Keaton perfoms well as expected, one to watch with the lights on though.

4.0 out of 5 stars Stepped it up a grade since Reise Reise, 10 Nov. 2005
This review is from: Rosenrot: +DVD (Audio CD)
I hated reise reise, i mean i trully couldnt stand the album after mutter blew me away. I felt that songs like amerika somehow opened up rammstein into giving me a feeling of too much commercialism in terms of how the style of the music had changed.
I was actually abit reluctant to buy rosenrot but to be fair its pretty good. Its not on par with mutter but comes close. The album is growing on me and i dont care what people say Te Quiro puta is quite a cool song. Abit different but is that not what rammstein has always produced? weird and unusual songs with some heavy guitar riffs thrown in with weird melodic techno.
No this album wont dissappointment, its well worth the buy.

5.0 out of 5 stars Expected good, got great!, 27 Oct. 2005
This review is from: The Warriors (Xbox) (Video Game)
Im a huge fan of the movie "The Warriors". It was filmed in 1979 when new york was known for having a terrible crime record with gangs mugging, raping, stealing, pretty much any crime a man can commit.
The movie was ultra slick and very violent for its time and even today can still be viewed as quite a violent look on late 1970's gang warfare.
Everyone knows rockstar, being responsible for the hugely popular GTA series. When I heard they were doing a game version of the warriors i was slightly unsure if they could pull it off.
Scrolling beat em ups have had a great past history with streets of rage and final fight but the transition from 2d to 3d has been pretty dismal.
Right from the start of playing this game you can tell rockstar have done their homework. The game opens with the same film opening scene, except with actual game footage. They have secured the rights for the original soundtrack and also drafted in the actors from the film such as james remarr for the voice acting.
Graphical wise, the game doesnt look as hot as other beat em ups, however when you consider how many game characters are on screen you will realise they have to sacrafice for this.
Missions are pretty varied but as you would expect involve alot of random fights and boss fights.
The game will last a long time. Some missions involve alot of work and along the way you can take on submissions. The game also has alot to unlock such as gangs to play with on the rumble games and extra missions such as how the warrior gang orignally formed.
You will find it easy to pick up and play but very hard to put down. Not much to fault on this game apart from the camera view being slightly annoying at times but other than that, rockstar has created a new fresh wake up for the beat em up genre.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Rip roaring fest. of Vocals, Guitars and Beats!, 15 Jun. 2005
What Can i say about this band...just not enough.
I came across this band on Kerrangs High Voltage Disc. It is track 19 on disc 2. Their track Fly high is on it...first few times i heard it I thought nothing much but the more i listened to it, the more I got into it.
I bought Cistm Konfliqt hoping that the songs on this album would be similar and of the same calibre of the single Fly high.
The tracks on this album are bit more heavier and grungier but not a bad thing. Infact this album totally rocks. There are a few light tracks that im not a fan on like sunny beach rd and she loves it. But tracks like Cistm Konfliqt, Scary, World and Let it rip, are just do damn aggressive and in your face.
Mad Capsule Markets do have a similar sounding to the likes of fear factory and alot of their tracks sound alot like the ones on their album remanufacture.
I love this album and will definently be buying their previous albums after hearing this. You will love it if you love your guitars heavy, your beats blasting and your vocals screaming (similar to alec empires) buy this now!!!!!!!!!!

1.0 out of 5 stars Dreadfully Dreadfull, 8 Aug. 2004
This review is from: Invincible [DVD] (DVD)
I had a high hope for this film when saw the trailer...but as like most movie trailers, they show u the best bits ,and leave the rest for u to decide.
Whenever a film that goes straight to video has the captions "from exec producers "famous name" ", u cant help but feel that maybe there is something in this film, why did mel gibson and jet li become exec producers of this movie? they maybe seen a small earner from this pic.
The film starts of pretty stylish with zane's character doing battle with the white angel character, a few cool stunts, nothing special.
After this the movie introduces you to the other four main characters, again its stylishly done, however after we see the 4 main characters story...billy zane takes us on a long dreary martial arts story to no where. Problem is, theres too much character building going on and not enough martial arts.
The film lacks any real direction, the story is extremely poor, and as for the characters, u couldnt care what happens to them.
Everyone is a nobody in this film, i only know zane and one of the 4 enemies who was in the mansion hallway fight scene in the matrix reloaded.
Had mel gibson and jet li actually took a proper interest in this movie they could of pulled of something better, but it seems that this film was merely a setup for hitting a spin off tv series, which didnt seem to happen.
Forget this movie at all for billy zane....jeezo ur career should be over after this one.

5.0 out of 5 stars Rock it neo!, 27 May 2003
This review is from: The Rock Matrix (Audio CD)
First thing, dont be fooled into thinking that the tracks on this double cd collection have appeared in the orginal matrix movie or will appear in the martix reloaded.
It seems obvious that Orb Records have decided to cash in on the big matrix reloaded franchise explosion thats happening, but saying that, its not a bad thing.
The colllection of tracks that have been added to this album do reflect heavy on the original soundtracks for the movies.
It has your usual mix of rock mixed with techno with such artists such as skunk anansie, garbagem prodigy and many more. There are your artists that have been added which no one has ever heard of such as pig prayer and connected, but artists such as these bring the album to light and give it a heavy freshining feel to it.
Overall this albums sets out exactlty what it intended to do. Theres definently a variety of tracks that will suit every matrix fan, you cant help feel sometimes that some of these tracks would have been better in place in the matrix movies that some of the original tracks.
With the amount of tracks on this album, you cant afford not to buy it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Rip roaring guitar riffs with thundering vocals, 24 Oct. 2001
This review is from: Mutter (Audio CD)
Du hast is probably one of rammstein's most well known tracks as it was used the the film "The matrix".
As i began to look into rammstein's style of music, i found a band that have got everything that a band needs...they dont lack in songs that stand out, especially in this album. Every track stands out for all its own reasons.
My favourite has to be soone....the chorus is just so powerful but yet has an underlyin passion that cannot be explained and it is moving.
If your a fan of the likes of rob zombie and metallica.....give this album a shot. you cannot fail to like this album
