HAWKWIND - masters of the universe 1979 tour programme
HAWKWIND - masters of the universe 1979 tour programme

5.0 out of 5 stars one of the best HW tour programmes, 9 Sep 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
At a time when hawkwind were without a record label, and when Robert Calvert had brilliantly guided them through the punk era and then left,Dave Brock regalvanised the spacecraft with original member Huw Lloyd Langton(rip) on gtr and brought in ex Gong keyboard player Tim Blake, who stayed for 2 years(He rejoined the band again in 2007 and is still with them). The programme contains some wonderful photos, with Dave in his lab coat, and Simon King making his final outing on drums. It also conatins Pete Frame's famous chronological family tree graph. For any HW fan, this programme, more than any other tour programme,is a real gem.

The Little Busy Bee Book
The Little Busy Bee Book

Edition: Hardcover

5.0 out of 5 stars a must have for fans of anne andersons work, 9 Sep 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
there were 8 books in this wonderful series of medium sized hardback books, each containing 12 wonderful colour plates, printed on glossy art paper,.The Rosie Posie book is probably the easiest to find, but each one is a sumptuous delight, and this one is no exception.Hard to track down, but each book shows Anne Andersons wonderful work at its best.

3.0 out of 5 stars not as good as i'd hoped, 9 Sep 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
I have to be honest, this was nowhere near as good as id hoped, especially having read other reviews. The retelling by modern western dressed north American Indians did little to draw you in,and neither did the clips of songs sung by modern north American artistesThe only thing of interest for me,was the last half hour covering the continued abuse and stealth criminal ongoing genocide programme, and the testaments and witnesseses, all having happened since Wounded Knee in the childrens institutions, and we hope one day that both the church and the monarchy will be brought to justice regarding this terrible crime, which is still being hushed up today.Kevin Annett is a hero, and although hes not mentioned here in this 2003 documentary, his tireless work to bring those to justice have seen him smeared by the media and establishment and even banned from entering the UK.

5.0 out of 5 stars HYPNOTIC SENSUAL ELECTRIC, 9 Sep 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This double dvd is a must buy if youre a Goldfrapp fan.Remember that the main concert was recorded back in 2003,when Goldfrapp only had 2 albums of material to draw on,and on the earlier 2001 concert, they only had the wondrous felt mountain to draw on.The 2003 concert oozes sensuality and class but also whereas some reviewers have dismissed the 2001 concert,i found it equally compelling, and the lesser known tracks were a real revelation.
Add to this 2 equally quirky documentaries, and this really is a must have.
And you have to love the way Alison turns a theremin into something rather more suggestive!Watch it and see!Brilliance!
The quirky classy artistic genius of Alison & Will continues to shine out in this humdrum world of pap music, and their new album looks set to return to their felt mountain roots.

4.0 out of 5 stars well,it has the famous episode we all know, 20 April 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
generally very good, although i feel that as a sampler, there could have been better choices than the 5 episodes here.It does have THAT famous "dont tell him,Pike" episode, and of course, the quality of the acting and the strength of each characters personality are of the ilk we will never see again on,certainly not on BBC television,Timeless and essential.

4.0 out of 5 stars great sequel, 20 April 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
im not a huge gore horror fan,but hostel 1 and 11 stand head and shoulders above others of the genre, simply because of the great idea for the story, which is very believable..more believable than perhaps we care to imagine, what with recent revelations in the news,-as well as the eerie setting of eastern europe. And people who say this is really gory clearly havent seen the gorefest comedy of Braindead! I wont be getting hostel 3,btw!-Such a shame,as a definitive sequel to this would have been very interesting,if it had been done correctly.

4.0 out of 5 stars much much better than i expected tbh!, 20 April 2013

compared to previous HW sideline albums,(hello white zone etc)this is a great release...real HW at work.maybe doesnt quite have the final shine of a full blown HW album, but theres some great tracks here.Highlights include "its all lies",as well as the first 3 tracks and the last track.im also fond of the reworking of Tim blakes "song for a new age",even though tim didnt play on this album. Its been a truly great few years, recently, for HW(and their fans) since their patchy and rather silent(studio-wise) period of 1996-2005.As their last albums title says "onward" indeed!
