5.0 out of 5 stars Very pleased....., 16 Dec. 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Recently upgraded my PC, but left the old monitor......not any more. ;-)

Decided to go triple screen and three of these look great, it's not all perfect though as you will see, but for the money I am well pleased.

Down to business....my issues, more niggles than issues.

As others have mentioned the stands are a 'bit' wobbly and putting three side by side has required a bit of blutack at the rear to keep them perfectly aligned. Well I'm a fussy sod and they just weren't perfect....they are now. For info they do have VESA mounting points for those who want to pay a fortune for a proper triple stand. Not really an issue for those with one monitor.

One other issue, my video card can drive 4 monitors, but...Two are DVI and the others are Display port and HDMI. Well I connected two to DVI, and they were fab.

When setup using the settings kindly provided by another review:

Standard
Brightness: 30
Contrast: 67
Color Temp: User R:90 G:76 B:69
Trace Free: 40

BUT, the one I connected to HDMI was washed out, nowhere near as good. No fault of the monitor, it's just clear to 'me' that HDMI does not provide as good an image as DVI.

So, I went and bought an additional video card Gigabyte NVIDIA GTX650Ti 2GB DDR5 PCI-E Graphics Card to go with my EVGA GF GTX 670 4GB SC Graphics Card with Backplate.

This gives me an extra 2 DVI ports, one of which I am using for the third monitor, thankfully my motherboard "Gigabyte SKT-1155 Z77X-UD5H Motherboard" and power supply "Corsair TX750M" supports the second card. All mentioned items were bought from Amazon.

The image is now consistent across all three, sorted!

One other point that others have made, dead pixels, I have bought three and 'expected' to have at least one duff monitor 'judging by the comments' it was not the case and all three are perfect, so far.

I am very pleased with my purchase, it has only been a week (as @ 16/12/13).

So, in summary, very good quality for the price, want better and you may pay double, or more.

Nice job ASUS, shame about the wobbly stand. ;-)

***UPDATE*** Had them for about six months, still no problems and very pleased with them. Would definitely buy ASUS kit again.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very, Very useful tool..........., 7 Nov. 2013

Bought to join the mitre's of a large mirror frame (actually a pair of mirrors) I was making, it worked PERFECTLY, could not fault it.

Produces very strong joints, quickly and simply. As mentioned by a previous reviewer 'BUY THE CLAMP', although it will work with other clamps.

In short very happy with it, and fully intend to buy the more professional version K4MS Jig Master System when I get the chance.

Retaining this as it is much more portable.

5.0 out of 5 stars 5* product, BUT 1* product description............., 7 Nov. 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
It is clearly titled as "Kreg 2 x 3/4-inch Face Clamps Capacity with 3-inch Reach", 2 x Clamps, which I now assume is an error as I only received one.

I assume that it is meant to say "Kreg 2 and 3/4-inch Face Clamp Capacity with 3-inch Reach".

5.0 out of 5 stars Better than I expected, much better......., 11 Mar. 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Purchased to scan a collection of old photos, some 35mm negatives, and a whole bunch of 35mm transparencies.

In all honesty I expected it to be very good at the photos and acceptable for the negatives and slides.

I was wrong, whilst the photos were perfect, I was stunned at the quality of the slide (and negative) scanning, especially given that it is not a 'proper' slide scanner. You know the score, 'master of all trades', 'jack of none'.

Well, in my humble opinion it did a fab job with slides.....and for the money, a bargain. Was also amazed how good colour slides from the early 60's looked, they looked like they were taken yesterday (unlike some of the photos).

One other feature that I noticed was scanning multiple photos (I tried to scan four photos to crop up later in the supplied Photoshop Elements 9), is, that as long as they are separated by a small amount of space the scanner identifies the separate photos and creates multiple images (brilliant). I could scan 4 photos at a time and it created 4 images, priceless. ;-)

Also the negative scanner can scan up to 2 strips of 5 at a time, for slides it is 4 at a time.

In short a great product and well worth the circa 150 notes.

So, whats wrong with it....?

Nothing, it just takes a few minutes to set it up, and make sure you don't use the 'digital ice' for photos, as it caused a few issues, but worked perfectly with slides though. I assume you are not supposed to use 'ice' with photos?

"DIGITAL ICE is also supported on Reflective media (e.g. photos), with the exception of the Perfection 4490 and ***V500*** models which are equipped with DIGITAL ICE Lite, suitable for scanning film and slides only - these models cannot be used to scan Reflective media with DIGITAL ICE. As an alternative you can use the Dust Removal feature for Reflective media."

So, do not use 'ice' on photos then..... ;-)

Well worth 5 stars......

5.0 out of 5 stars Gritty French Crime........., 3 Feb. 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
If you like Spiral and or Mesrine......it's a must buy.

Forget the 'Nordic Noir' great though it is (and I'm a real fan), if you want something really, really gritty, very real, and completely convincing.....

This (Braquo), Spiral and Mesrine are it!!

'Probably the best lager (well, cop shows) in the world......'

An excellent addition to that collection of subtitled crime dramas, no really.

Why can't the Americans make them like this, there is something very 'real' about these european dramas, the US crime series just don't hit the spot.

Watch it, you will not be dissapointed.

5.0 out of 5 stars The best crime series bar the Sopranos (which really is very, very good)., 3 Feb. 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
The person at BBC Four who bought this to British TV should receive a knighthood, seriously.

This and many other Nordic dramas have made Saturday nights worth staying in for (and no I don't watch Strictly or XFactor ever). You can also add Montelbano (Italy) and Spiral (France) to this.

For me the best of the three was series 2. As for the ending in series 3, well, it could have been better, but at least it went out with a bang.

IF you havent watched this, watch it, you will not regret it.

Yes its subtitled......................

Bought to replace a Creative Labs (CL) card, after numerous attempt to stop the CL card from crackling.

In short problem solved. BUT, one disadvantage I noticed when plugging in headphones, the card did not appear to sense this and switch audio to headphones (the CR one did). Had to switch it manually, which is a very small issue given that it solved the main problem.

This may have been a 'user created error'........ ;-)

5.0 out of 5 stars Very surprising how things have changed............., 3 Feb. 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Wathcing the first of his movies brings to mind exactly how much things have changed with regard to our attitudes to the treatment of wildlife.

In the first film, the boat is following whales (a mother and a calf), in short it hits a baby whale, the baby whale is bleeding to death, when sharks start to eat it, well....., the crew start to shoot at the sharks and the whole thing ends up in a bit of a bloodbath. David Attenborough would not approve. ;-)

Regardless, it stands the test of time and is probably one of the best documentaries made, especially given its age.

The other movies are also pretty good, but I'd buy it for the 'original' Cousteau movie "The Silent World".

p.s. My discs were printed correctly, correct movies on the correct disks.
