5.0 out of 5 stars A fantastic EP from The Grittybeats!, 23 Feb. 2013
There are some great tracks on this EP. It knits together humour, nostalgia and some powerful and poignant messages across these four songs. "Take Me Home" is a stand out song that's upbeat in tempo, but yearning for a bygone era and place. "96 Reds" brings a lump to throat and also stirs an anger too at the terrible events of that day and the cover up that followed. A powerful song indeed.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Live Classic!, 25 Nov. 2012
This review is from: 5x5 Live (Audio CD)
This is a pretty special live album capturing critically acclaimed 5x5 tour. It's hard to believe that these songs are 30+ years old. Many of them sound very fresh and relevant. It's difficult to pick out the standout tracks as there are so many, but 'This Fear Of Gods ', 'Room', 'Scar', and 'The King Is White' deserve a special mention. The band are on top form here especially some of the resonating bass lines. If you're after Alive & Kicking, Don't You et al it's not here, but what you do get are some great, innovative early songs that still sound very current today! Enjoy!

This is a fine book. It contains some stunning pictures and thoughtful one line poems. Some poignant, some sad, and some witty. Love it!

5.0 out of 5 stars What a song and what a riff..., 18 May 2009
A great song built on a superb guitar riff.
Although I have to say this track doesn't even make it into my top 6 tracks from the new Graffiti Soul album.

5.0 out of 5 stars An Amazing Album, 4 May 2009
This review is from: Graffiti Soul (Audio CD)
This is Simple Minds best stuff in a very long time.
I can't recommend this album highly enough. From the first to the last track it's superb. Moscow Underground with it's thumping bass is a highlight. Stars Will Lead The Way is single contender.

5.0 out of 5 stars I've heard nothing better this year..., 2 May 2009

Wow! What a return to form! The stand out tracks are Moscow Underground, Stars Will Lead The Way, Light Travels, Graffiti Soul and This Is It, but actually it's all pretty impressive stuff.
Moscow Undergroud is dark opening track with a thumping bassline combined with a mellow vocals from Jim Kerr. Stars Will Lead The Way is a classic Simple Minds sound built around an unforgettable riff. Light Travels is slower and different...and almost hypnotic. It's a truly beautiful song. Graffiti Soul is a song that really does "Give You Lightening" and is another built on a great bassline and lead guitar. This Is It is very upbeat song and a crescendo to wrap up the album. A powerful combination of lead guitar and relentless drums. And what's more the Delux album version comes with a set of covers - which is not your typical lame cover album. Again, its superb - check out Let The Day Begin. All in all a real return to form. I just hope this enjoys the sucess it richly deserves, and "content" overcomes what's perceived as "cool!"
