Could be better but cannot compare to a Dyson, 13 Jun 2013
I purchased Morphy Richards 73411 last April 2012. I have hesitated leaving a review because I wanted to see how long it would last. It started going a few months ago but 14 months later it is ready for the trash heap. I really wanted another dyson, which is what I had before but I wasn't prepared to shell out another £350. For less than third of the price I thought I would give the Morphy Richards a try. At first it seems quite impressive, lightweight and easy to manoeuvre. However there are a few points I didn't like.
-Hose is too short
-If you have wool rugs it's bit of a nightmare, I found it filled up the canister almost immediately.
-If anyone has long hair, again forget about this vacuum, unless you don't mind having to reach in with your hands to take out all the hair and dustballs that get caught up inside. The dyson was lovely because there weren't any notches for hair to get stuck on in the inside. You just had to press the button over the bin and it would empty. Of course you eventually had to brush around the cyclone but with the Morphy Richards, I have to open the bottom, then open the top and reach in and pull out the remainder that get's stuck. It's always messy.
-The canister is really too small, it needs to be emptied after each use, I have a three bedroom house with carpet throughout.
- The edge to wall cleaning is poor compare to the Dyson
- The suction has become so poor the stair attachment which is powered by the suction no longer works
-Now it sounds like something is stuck somewhere but I have detached all the pipes and they all look clear
Ultimately, this vacuum is ideal for an apartment, WTHOUT pets or long hair. If you don't have to deal with that then I would say it's a good vacuum for the money. However, If you do have pets, stairs, long hair I would look elsewhere. Which is what I need to do now as mine has just gone kaput. I wish I had checked my purchase date sooner as I don't know if it's still under warranty but I highly doubt it. A big disappointment for me.
