3.0 out of 5 stars Not too sure, 31 Aug. 2007
This review is from: The Brown Bottle (Paperback)
This book tries to address alcoholism for children. I think the idea is good but wouldn't use it with younger children (really about 10yrs upward.) The author uses too complex an image for children to really grasp what is going on and some of the langauge is a bit wierd.

5.0 out of 5 stars Super Book to explain difference to children, 31 Aug. 2007
This book is a lovely colourfully illustrated book that shows children that it really is ok to be different. It is a fabulous basis to use to help children understand that everyone is ok regardless of colour, background, ability etc. I find it useful as a way to talk and share the ideas it promotes with my daughter without it being too heavy etc. (Ie one bit says it's ok to have wheels with a picture of a person in a wheelchair, which helps to chat about abilities etc). It is very simple in language so really aimed at 3-6yr olds.

Really would recommend it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Book!, 31 Aug. 2007
This review is from: The Family Book (Hardcover)
My Daughter and I really loved this book. It has wonderful colourful illustrations and lots of different ideas of what families are like. It's quite simple with just a short amount of words but really does get the idea that families come in all sorts of shapes.

Excellent!

4.0 out of 5 stars Slow but riveting, 20 May 2007
I really enjoyed reading this after having spent 10 days in China it gave me further insight into the complex issues and life that makes up China today. It was fascinating to hear about life in a small town, Fuling, which is by the Yangtze and how it was before the dam was built.

Although it is quite a 'slow' book it is clearly and carefully written with lots of interesting anecdotes that reveal the inside china.

A must buy if you're interested in China itself
