5.0 out of 5 stars Hip trip jazz soul big band - Hop, 2 Mar 2003
This review is from: Deadringer (Audio CD)
I came across this cd while looking for other artists on the mighty Def Jux label and after reading other reviews I chose to buy it instead of Cannibal Ox's "The Cold Vein". It was definitely not a mistake; Rjd2 has created a very refreshing hip/trip-hop album in a similar style to DJ Shadow, mixing really excellent hip-hop beats with hooks and samples from many different styles including blues, soul, jazz and big band.
I would reccomend this CD to anyone with even a passing intrest in hip-hop, trip-hop, jazz or just plain good beats that make you want to move!

5.0 out of 5 stars Melo Death at its best!, 14 Dec 2002
This review is from: Chainheart Machine (Audio CD)
This is my second favourite melo death album, second only to the mightiness of In Flames' Jester Race. The songs grabs you with fast, powerful guitar playing and sudden half growling, half screeching vocals which although annoying at first grow on you and become incredibly catchy. The best song on the album is probably Millionflame, but they're all good!

5.0 out of 5 stars Best Opeth Album!, 14 Dec 2002
This review is from: Morningrise (Audio CD)
I bought this album after listening to the awesome Blackwater Park and was not disappointed! It took about a week's worth of listening to finally get into this album but now it is one of my favourite cd's of all time! The best song on the album is easily Black Rose Immortal, it is a beautiful 20 minute epic that goes through so many emotions it may leave a tear in your eye. The vocals are amazing, the death vox are not as deep as in BP but still convey the mood perfectly. As always with Opeth the music is a mixture between heavy riffs and melodic acoustic parts which blend together to create songs that leave you breathless. If you want to get into the brilliance of Opeth I suggest you get Blackwater Park first as it is more accessible, then come back to Morningrise!
