3.0 out of 5 stars Cute designs, practical problems, 16 April 2012
The designs of the 20 stuffed animals in this book are very cute, and will undoubtedly be a success with any recipient. However, in my opinion the book suffers from a few practical problems. As has been mentioned in another review, the patterns are on a CD and some messing about with printer settings, and/or sticky tape are needed to get the proper pattern pieces. The patterns are hand drawn, which means they are not as accurate as is sometimes necessary - such as when you are sewing a black-and-white panda where any difference between the pattern pieces will clearly show up. The illustrations with the instructions are also hand drawn, which in most cases is no problem, though occassionally it's hard to see which way to sew one pattern piece to another. If you've got some experience in sewing, this is no problem, but the book seems particularly aimed at beginners so that's rather annoying. If you want to sew the animals from a different fabric then fleece, there is no grain line in the pattern pieces. And finally, some of the designs look different from the photographs. Peter Panda, for instance, has quite a long neck when you follow the pattern, whereas the head seems to be directly on top of the black upper body in the photograph.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good for the price, 21 July 2011
This review is from: 100 Crochet Projects (Paperback)
While this book won't win any prizes for originality, for its price it gives a great range of projects. Most are clothing and accessoires, but there are some home projects and smaller projects (like crocheted flowers) as well. The clothing projects are mostly for teens and young women, though there are some patterns for all ages and some for children. In contrast, some of the coverlets/blankets/pillow covers are fairly old-fashioned. A downside of this book is that quite a lot of the projects (I think as much as 1/4) use novelty yarn, which makes it hard or impossible to see the underlying pattern.
The patterns are written in the most concise way possible, which means you have to keep VERY good track of where you are in the pattern not to get hopelessly lost the next time you pick up your work. I haven't made anything yet from this book so I can't say whether there are any mistakes.

Biker Mice From Mars - Season One [DVD] [1993]
Biker Mice From Mars - Season One [DVD] [1993]
Dvd ~ Dorian Harewood

3.0 out of 5 stars Great show, lousy dvd, 9 May 2011
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
So, if you're on this page chances are you already now that Biker Mice from Mars is a completely awesome show and I won't have to convince you of that. The original series, in my opinion, is infinitely better than the new series. I really hope they bring out the other episodes on dvd as well - but if/when they do, I hope they do a better job of it.

First off, remember that absolutely rockin' opening? That's not on the dvd. On none of the episodes. I'd have understood if they'd only put it in on the first episode and not the others, but it's cut out everywhere. Second, no language or subtitle options at all, which is a shame since I know that there are many Finnish, German and Dutch fans (and probably other nationalities) who'd get a great nostalgia kick from hearing the bro's in their native tongue again. Third, the episodes are edited, with bits cut out that I think are due to copyright issues. That is, I haven't watched all the episodes yet, but a lot of the songs are cut out. In the original eps, there were several moments where the mice burst into song - and so far, these have all been cut out. Sometimes, such as in episode 13 'Hard rock', this is incredibly noticeable and jarring. And inexplicably, in the case of the episode mentioned, the song that was cut out from the episode is used in the credits. So why cut it out then?!

If this was purely about the dvd and not the actual show, this product would get 1 star; vice versa, if I only had to rate the show it would be 5 stars, which is why I settled on 3. Unfortunately there seems to be no easy way to contact Brentwood Television Funnies, the company that owns BMfM, and ask them if the other seasons are forthcoming and if those dvd's will be better. I'm not even sure if they're still in business, given how little information I can find about them, but I hope someone with better search skills may be able to figure out more.
