5.0 out of 5 stars the definite story of Spain's civil war, 30 Jun 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: The Spanish Holocaust (Paperback)
With compelling personal stories and lots of data for every part of Spain under Franco's terror, the atrocities by Franco are far worse than that of the leftist civilians. Apart from the anarchists in Catalunya there were numerous killings by Franco's army, explained in this book even per village.
A great story to read for everyone who is interested in Spain's recent history.

Eastern Approaches. Memoirs. With plates, including a portrait, and maps
by Fitzroy Hew Maclean
Edition: Hardcover

5.0 out of 5 stars Strong story, even after 60 years!, 30 Jun 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
The personal history that Fitzroy Maclean describes is still revealing and startling after 60 years! This book from 1949 has great maps & photo's and contains three wonderful stories of Stalin Soviet Union, the desert war in North Africa and the main plot: Yugoslav's guerilla war that made Tito a hero with help from allied forces through Fitzroy Maclean and later in the war the Red Army.
This wonderful book is proof that (old) books keeps history alive, long after the tables and so on are dead and forgotten!

5.0 out of 5 stars the perfect guide to the city of Malaga!, 4 July 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
I only visited Malaga city but the Lonely Planet gave me everything I wanted to search for. I stayed in an hostal in the east part of town, little visited by foreigners and more a real Spanish or Andalucian area.
