4.0 out of 5 stars Hmmm..., 4 May 2005
Guitars: Awesome, and truly remarkable.
Drums and Bass: Quality!
Vocals: Ehm...
This album lacks SONGS! There are 7 tracks on here, which to begin with is a bit annoying, but with the return of Wes, things are forging ahead strongly. It's just that Fred's vocals are all the same, and rather uninspiring. In fact, some of this would probably be better if they got rid of his parts. Sounds harsh, but when he does basically the same thing for all 7 tracks, it gets a little tiring.
"Results May Vary" wasn't the most widely popular album, but it still had variation and songs, with great choruses. Now, we're left with only Wes' guitars to excite us - which they do, especially on "The Truth".
Try before you buy.

Shock Wave (A Dirk Pitt Novel)
Shock Wave (A Dirk Pitt Novel)
by Clive Cussler

5.0 out of 5 stars Superb!, 4 May 2005
This is my first Cussler book, and it's absolutely fantastic! I was up until the early hours of the morning reading this, as the plot sped along at a great, speedy pace! Cussler never gets bogged down in too much technical detail, never writes in blatant cliches, without making a joke out of them, and has a great sense of humour, when it is called for.
If you've never read Cussler, then you're really missing out! Excellent, highly recommended read to anyone who is bored of the cookie-cutter "adventure" novels that are littering the shelves these days.
Also try: Kyle Mills, Vince Flynn, John Sandford

5.0 out of 5 stars Melodic Death/Thrash Metal with some melodic moments, 23 April 2005
This review is from: Paradigm in Entropy (Audio CD)
This is not strictly metalcore. In fact, this is so much more! With the crushing brutality of Thrash and Melodic Death metal, as well as some soaring, smooth melodic vocals, this is a diverse album, written by a group of highly-talented musicians who really know how to balance dark and light, beauty and the beast, brutality and melody.
Wonderful, and sure to do well!

The Broker
The Broker
by John Grisham
Edition: Hardcover

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderfully written book, 5 April 2005
This review is from: The Broker (Hardcover)
"The Broker" is one of those books that seem to be all to rare these days: not only does it have a great story, but it is also immaculately written - THIS is why Mr. Grisham is popular and continues to sell millions of books! I have been very impressed with his most recent output, as I think he has returned to form greatly ("The Street Lawyer" bored me, and I never got far into it, before discarding it for "The Brethren", which was excellent).
Okay, the story is not Blockbuster-paced, but I think it works all the better for it. I found myself completely incapable of putting this down, so languid and beautifully was it written. And yes, like a couple of other reviewers here, I learned rather a lot of Italian. Something I thought might become annoying, but actually didn't. The characters are brilliantly brought to life on every page, and you do grow attached to them.
Never boring, "The Broker" is a book of rare high-calibre. Very highly recommended to all fans of the author, and to those who just want to read a great book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Album of 2004? Possibly, 18 Oct. 2004
This review is from: 1-800 Vindication (Audio CD)
I love this album - can't get enough of it, really.
Heavy, brutal, chucky, occasionally melodic, brilliant, excellently written, peerless. Black, Death and Heavy Metal all merged into one amazing package of aural delight.

5.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant progression, 18 Oct. 2004
This review is from: Audio Injected Soul (Audio CD)
"The Audio Injected Soul" picks up where "Mechanical Spin Trauma" should have left off, with more melody incorporated, without compromising the brutality or onslaught-nature of the music.
Highly recommended for those with a thirst for driving, heavy metal with a twist.
Buy this album!

5.0 out of 5 stars Absolutely Awesome!!, 27 Sept. 2004
This is awesome hard rock 'n' roll - imagine Velvet Revolver meets Finger Eleven and you're there! They're currently on tour with Finger Eleven in the States, and look to be kicking up a storm - get in there before they become huge!!
Excellent.

4.0 out of 5 stars More of the same. In a good way..., 20 Jun. 2004
This review is from: Beautiful Awakening (Audio CD)
This doesn't really reinvent the wheel, when it comes to melodic, yet not prissy rock - the vocals are clean, with a dash of snarl, the music is spiky and the guitars are excellent.
This is basically a continuation of "Underneath The Surface", which isn't a bad thing.
Good, quality rock music.

5.0 out of 5 stars One of the top ten albums of 2004!, 10 Jun. 2004
This review is from: Collide (Enh) (Audio CD)
Excellent, pure excellence! They have it all: hard rocking numbers, more hard rocking numbers, some not-so hard rocking numbers to give us a breather, more hard rocking numbers... Not only that, but they have decent lyrics that aren't cliched or pants. Excellent band, pity they don't get much attention over here.
Go buy! Now!

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome! And I've only heard 2 songs..., 13 May 2004
I've only heard "Duality" and "Pulse Of The Maggots", and I have to say that they're absolutely AWESOME!
Much more... I don't know... well, they're just downright awesome, and you should get this album when it comes out in 2 weeks!!
More melody in there, too, without compromising the Slipknot sound we've all come to love and enjoy.
Laters.
