A final treat from R S Thomas, 20 May 2013
It is always exciting to read a new collection from a favourite poet, and never more so than when he has been dead for over a decade! Although RST presumably chose not to gather these published poems in his earlier collections, there are no duds. Since his death, his reputation has continued to grow; this book can only enlarge his circle of admirers. The chronological ordering traces the development of his very personal style towards his distinctive later voice, allowing each poem to be placed in the context of his published work. Uncollected Poems is more than twice the size of Residues, his previous posthumous collection. And surely it will be RST's final book, one not to miss.
