3.0 out of 5 stars Not as good as Bill Ward's first album, 12 May 2002
This review is from: When the Bough Breaks (Audio CD)
I bought this album because I am a dedicated Black Sabbath fan. Well, I can't say it is very bad, but if you expect to hear some heavy tunes on it, than better to put it out of your shopping basket. The music on this CD is something similar to Sting, not to Black Sabbath. However, one still must aknowledge the songwriting skills of Bill Ward - it is still rock, not pop music. My favorites on this album are "Please Help Mommy" and the title track.
If you are real collector, than it's worth buying, but if you buy it to listen as you are listening to Black Sabbath-like music, than my advice is to refrain from buying.

5.0 out of 5 stars Don't miss this CD!, 30 Aug 2001

This is really excellent! The sound of this CD is close to the sound of the first album by Metal Church and also to the solo album of Judas Priest's vocalist Rob Halford - "Resurrection" I'm sure the songs like "The Hammer Will Fall", "Hannibal", and of course "Ballad for Marianne" will become classics! Buy this CD, enjoy the sound of classic metal, you won't forget a single penny spent on it!

5.0 out of 5 stars This CD is excellent!, 1 May 2001

Jake E.Lee at his full strength! Although I was just a little disappointed due to absence of vocals on most of the songs, the sound of this guitar is still amazing! One can still feel that bluesy hard-rock sound of BADLANDS and in some moments screaming metal of OZZY's "Bark at the Moon" and "The Ultimate Sin". Ten years of waiting for a new release really worth it, when such a masterpiece appears after these years! I like especially the first and the fourth tracks. Don't miss the chance to own this excellent CD !!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Very good hard rock with some metal moments, 1 May 2001
This review is from: Blue Murder (Audio CD)
This CD is a "callback" to the old hard rock with some elements of doomy blues. John Sykes's guitar solos are really outstanding - the balancing between the hard rock, metal and blues is quite difficult, but he fulfills this task perfectly. Songs like "Valley of the Kings", "Out of Love" and "Ptolemy" demonstrate it clearly. Buy this CD, enjoy a wonderful mixture of styles!

5.0 out of 5 stars The best piece of epic metal!, 29 April 2001
This review is from: Open the Gates (Audio CD)
Wow! Finally the remastered version of this superb CD is out! Although I do have the old Black Dragon CD, I would probably buy this just not to miss the live bonustracks! In my opinion this is the second best album by Manilla Road after "The Courts of Chaos". It contains masterpieces such as "Metalstrom", "Weavers of the Web", "The Fires of Mars" and of course "Witches' Brew". This CD is simply must to have for any true epic metal lover! Buy it, you won't regret it !!!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars This is late version of early BLACK SABBATH !, 15 Dec 2000
Very advisable for those who like early Black Sabbath! But it is not a "bad copy", like KINGDOM COME of LED ZEPPELIN, the sound is "modernized" a little bit, to the tune of 80-s.
