Hundreds of Comforting, Practical, Common Sense Options...Th, 12 Oct. 2003
I am truly grateful to "Prima Baby" (September edition, page 66) for recommending this American A-Z pocket-sized compendium in an article entitled "Avoiding Those Temper Trouble Zones". It is indeed outstanding! The format enables you to quickly find suggestions to such behaviors as bad words, tantrums, biting, lying, interrupting, etc. You come away with many short bulleted options to try. The stategies are all totally common sense..but I forgot they are options when I'm "losing it."
I really appreciate the kind tone, humor and reassurance of the authors. They avoid annoying psychoanalytical babble that often dictates what you must do (or not do) or else you will ruin your child! The focus of their philosophy is about solving problems with "love and limits" rather than on placing shame, blame, fear, or guilt on the children or on the parents.
In short..."Pocket Parent" is immensely helpful and reasonably priced..truly a pocketful of friendly sanity and compassion for mothers and fathers to keep handy as a reference.
"2 Thumbs Up" on this one.!
