1.0 out of 5 stars Bad buy - USB ports dont work with my Mid 2012 MBA, 6 Aug 2013
I bought my Express dock directly from Apple here in the UK ( not yet available through Amazon at the time of writing my review )
Annoyingly Belkin Thunderbolt Express Dock doesn't work with my mid 2012 MBA, abd the box says that it requires OS X 10.8.3, apparently?!! (the three high speed USB ports don't work, doh), at £249 without a cable ( I had to buy the cable seperately) it's pretty underwhelming. Unfortunately the shape is slightly tapered so I can't even use it as a coffee cup stand.

What's really annoying (and read into this whatever you like) is that if you google this device, you get lots of reviewers raving about it, some kinda luke warm, but NONE saying that you need OSX 10.8.3? Do all the reviewers have late 2013 MBA's...that's quite unlikely. I was distinctly unimpressed at the lack of availability of information online. Belkin's own website says that all you need to do to install is plug everything in, nothing about having to upgrade OSX. BTW on a related note, OSX 108. update seems to have dissapeared. There are links to in on Apple's website but if you click the link you end up at a 404 page.

At £249, (no cable included), with half of it not working, and poor to no information on Belkin's website this is a very dissapointing purchase. What started out as a luxury "treat" for myself has become a nasty grudge purchase.

I'm considering sending it back, and rather put the £249 towards a Mac monitor that has a hub built in, one of these : [...] )

Belkin are trying to produce a high end quality product and charge premium pricing, but have failed dismally. Belkin products are not Apple products, not by a mile. My advice, keep your money and rather put it towards one of the 27" Mac Monitors with built in Thunderbolt hub. The monitors even include the cables! ;-D

3.0 out of 5 stars Nothing at all about how to register your nameservers!, 18 Feb 2007
This review is from: DNS For Dummies (Paperback)
Not too bad if you need to know how to use the various tools available. However, almost completely useless if you want to setup and run a DNS server, because the author completely fails to tell you how to register the actual nameserver for your domain that your server will be managing, and how to check to see if the nameservers are configured correctly.

This might be easy pie for most, but for a beginner it's not obvious, and if it's so simple, why not cover it in the book?
