5.0 out of 5 stars true to life or death, 25 April 2016

Excellent portrayal of an adolescent boy driven to murder in desperation. This is true to life and death. Constant bulling over a number of years eventually drives people over the top but who's fault is it? Parents? Siblings? School mates? Or mental illness? How do we react to childhood trauma? Well this us an account of one young man's reaction to threats and misery. The plot thickens with parents as judges or midwives or detectives. This is an excellent read.

Excellent. Thought provoking. Well written account of a gay man in a non friendly gay culture . His straggles to be honest with himself and his surroundings in an Islamic country. the question we all have to ask ourselves is to what extent are we prepared to accept unjust laws or accept the struggle to be ourselves.

5.0 out of 5 stars Spiritual direction, 21 Nov. 2015
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
A deceptively light weight novel but a deep and profound view of the art of spiritual direction for the modern world.
Take people where they are and not where you think they should be...so take the ordinary person who is disenchanted by the Church and God but gently lead them to the relationship with God who always begins and sustains a relationship of love.

3.0 out of 5 stars contrived, 6 Jun. 2014

This review is from: Easter (Kindle Edition)
A book about an Anglo catholic community betrayed by lace, smells and sexuality. The framework could have worked but using the services of Holy Week known as the Triduum to chart sad, misguided people is unreal. The church is more than this. As a portrayal of Anglo Catholicism is a parody. I find it sad and depressing.

5.0 out of 5 stars just the right book for a hilarious French holiday, 11 Mar. 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This is a great book. Take it with you on your next trip to France. When you have put up,your tent and into your first glass of red laugh with this strange family on their annual holiday to France; anyone who has decided on a camping holiday will sympathise with a grand dad who needs the loo constantly and gets lost finding one, wives who use war paint to chase French men, and Brits wearing thongs. In all a good read and huge fun.
