2.0 out of 5 stars The Secret is there is no Magic you just need to be positive..., 2 Sept. 2013
This review is from: Magic (Paperback)
In the first chapter Rhonda lists a load of quite historic people who she claims have experienced "the magic". It's a list of everyone from Jesus, Mother Theresa to JFK and admittedly this does intrigue. Magic is then quickly defined as being "gratitude" and you come to quickly realise all of those people mentioned were the types of people who were happy with the life they led no matter what situation they were in.

Rhonda asks you to write a list of ten blessings in your life and why you are thankful for them; now whilst I dislike the term blessing, the idea of defining what you think the positives in your life are seems to be the most beneficial part of the book. If you can find a reason to happy and grateful for the life you live, no matter the current circumstances, your life will be enriched because you will always be happy with what you have.

However, Rhonda then takes another 27 days to rehash this over and over under different headings with some unnecessary stuff thrown in. The best example of this being on day two where she asks you to get yourself a "Magic Rock" to hold in your hand in bed every night whilst you think about the best thing that happened in your day and then say thank you for it a lot. Not forgetting day five where she asks you to deface some legal tender with the words "thank you for all the money I've been given throughout my life"...

The terminology in this book implies you have been given all of these blessings by something or somebody and personally I think it would be far more beneficial for a reader to recognise the role they play in their own achievement of happiness.

So this is a lovely concept that could have been summed up in one chapter; but then Rhonda wouldn't have been able to thank you for buying her book ;)

3.0 out of 5 stars Sculptress is brilliant but this is a very sweet artificial flavour, 26 Aug. 2013
Overall use - I use for between meals (breakfast - lunch, lunch - dinner) as this is a snack replacement. Provides a good intake of vitamins and protein and does the job. Works well as part of my diet and routine (I lift weights 5 x a week and run 3-5).

Taste - I'm not a particular fan of this flavour. It's a very artificial, sweet flavour much like angel delight and I much prefer to use it as an ingredient rather than drink it as a shake.

Mixing product - easiest way is with a shaker as this will help separate and mix the powder. Otherwise it can be a bit like when you make a milkshake and don't stir enough and you get a dry clump at the bottom. Easily solved by shaking or stirring.

Taste - I quite like the taste but some others have mentioned not being a fan so here is the best way I can describe it: to me it tastes like those foam Banana sweets you get in the pick and mix. Or like a mild Nesquick Banana milkshake! I must admit I prefer the chocolate as it's moorish. Although nice mixed together (25g of each).

Amazon Fantastic service - Free supersaver delivery. I ordered on Monday and received Wednesday. Buying this from Amazon and having it delivered actually works out cheaper than buying from Maxitone or a shop (unless you have a discount code)

5.0 out of 5 stars Decent foam roller without the silly price, 13 Aug. 2013
I've had this roller several months and I've had no problems with its quality and I use it twice daily (I weight 125.6lbs)

My training is running 3-5 times a week, HIIT and Weight lifting 5 times a week. I use this roller as part of a warm up to prepare my muscles it is also the perfect warm down as part of stretching. Using before exercise has helped me gain greater depth in my squats and also run further comfortably.

This isn't a gentle roller BUT foam rolling isn't supposed to be pleasant. Holding the pressure on your trigger spots is supposed to be uncomfortable! It's like a cheap mans sports /deep tissue massage.

(I didn't buy this from Amazon but I have this exact roller.)

5.0 out of 5 stars Protein shake for women, not a magic diet wand :), 11 Aug. 2013
SNACK REPLACEMENT SHAKE NOT MEAL. I try to eat 5 times a day; 3 meals and two snacks. This product works as a "snack" and not an actual meal (the Maxitone Definity is better more of a meal replacement). This is ideal for that time between breakfast and lunch or lunch and dinner.

This will aid weight loss because most women do not eat enough! The shake provides nutrition (a whole list of vitamins and minerals on the side of the bottle; about 22) and the all important Protein. Protein is going to help you recover from workouts and build your lean muscle (muscle means higher metabolism). Also includes green tea extract which is known to help boost weightloss.

All that said you're still going to have to do the hard work in the gym/pounding the pavement / whatever fitness thing suits you; not forgetting the other meals you eat in the day need to be good. If you don't eat to meet your goals this obviously isn't going to work!

Some reviewers said this has given them a funny tummy / made them need to go to the toilet. This is a common side effect when more protein than normal is introduced into the diet. Just ask any bodybuilder.

Taste - yummy chocolate flavour, sweet. I don't add too much water because I like this quite thick like a milkshake.

Going to continue buying this as it's convenient, yummy and does what it says on the tin. Wish they came in larger quantity tubs.

5.0 out of 5 stars Ditch the wheat buy the coconut!, 11 Aug. 2013
This is a really versatile and most importantly, yummy wheat flour substitute. The quantity needed when baking/cooking is low, meaning this bag should last you a while and is of reasonable quantity for the money.

So far I've used this for clean pancakes, clean banana bread, protein cupcakes and added a tiny amount for flavouring to home made sauces as well as a pinch sprinkled on breakfast.

The bag is a nice resealable bag easy to store.

Good price from a decent retailer; this is dearer in shops like H&B.

Quite a large heavy book, so most ideal for your coffee table or to browse at home. Definitely one to keep in your collection.

3.0 out of 5 stars More of an occasional cookbook, 26 July 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: The Italian Diet (Paperback)
This cookbook is a lovely idea and it does indeed contain some lovely recipes but is very much just playing on the well known theory that cooking like an Italian is going to make you thin and live until you are 100.

Buy if you want a simple Italian recipe book to add to your repertoire but don't expect to be living by the book because the chances are you wont :)
