Applied Architecture Patterns on the Microsoft Platform
Applied Architecture Patterns on the Microsoft Platform
by Richard Seroter
Edition: Paperback
Price: £34.77

5.0 out of 5 stars Essential Part of any solution toolkit, 11 Feb. 2011
Simply put, this booked provides an excellent set of blue prints using the Microsoft stack which is going to prove useful for at least the next 5 years. I'd suggest the timing of this release is perfect given the current state of Azure, AppFabric, and the Sql platform. The level of detail is appropriate to get the core concept of the architecture across, whilst providing the relevant detail of how each component contributes to the over architecture. Each architecture has a number of proposed solutions, and a decision framework attached to it which is used to help understand which solution meets the most requirements. This is a book that I will be reaching for time and time again, not only in coming up with new designs, but also explaining existing ones.

5.0 out of 5 stars an excellent technical resource for both features and techniques of Sql Programming, 5 July 2006
Not only is this an excellent technical reference, it's also an excellent read - offering plenty of food for thought around subjects such as design and application of User Defined Data Types, and the age old discussions of cursor usage. This is a book I will be coming back to repeatidly and is a very good compliment to the T-Sql Tuning book. Each subject area is covered to a good depth, and generally includes the history surrounding the feature and techniques in which it might be applied, resulting in a resource that is valuable both for experienced and new Sql Programmers.

I received this within 24 hours of placing the order - in the box came the receiver, the camera, a pp3 adaptor and 2 power supplies (one for the camera and one for the receiver) - within 5 minutes I was up and running. Picture quality is very good - very clear and stable image in color

4.0 out of 5 stars An excellent 'how to' guide, 22 Jun. 2006
This book delivers exactly what the title suggests it does, it is an excellent step by step guide, there is lots of 'how to' exercises throughout each chapter. Within 3 days of reading I had an understanding of the fundemental principals of an OLAP database and how AS 2005 fits that model, and within 5 days was able to start bringing together that knowledge to work with some degree of confidence with AS 2005 and the Business Intelligence Studio. If you're new to AS2005 and OLAP I would consider this as required reading. If you're just new to AS 2005 it proves as a very good guide as to what is where in the tool set.
