Men's Luxury Velour & Terry Towelling Dressing Gown - Navy Blue (X-Large)
Men's Luxury Velour & Terry Towelling Dressing Gown - Navy Blue (X-Large)
Offered by Classic Dressing Gowns
Price: £46.99

5.0 out of 5 stars Quality, luxurious, comfortable dressing gown, 10 Mar. 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This was a blind buy for me but after years of dressing gowns that were too thin or lacked that "luxury" feel was a pleasant surprise. An excellent product

4.0 out of 5 stars Slightly more purple than photos suggest, but a strong, solid, nicely designed lamp, 31 Jan. 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Putting this together was a bit of a faff with a heavy base left over because it ships as two different products effectively bundled together ( a desk lamp that can have an alternative tall angled stand). The product looks and feels expensive once you put it together and although the color isn't quite what I was expecting I am very happy with this item.

3.0 out of 5 stars Nice case that actually fits the phone - but it covers up most of the buttons so what's the point?, 31 Jan. 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Everyone in the world is advertising cases for the Lumia 920 that are too small to fit because they've rushed to grab search engine traffic with no knowledge of the phone's real size. I'd returned three before I found this one. The good news is that it fits as snug as a rug. The bad news is that it completely covers up the volume and camera buttons. And because it's made of stretchy rubber material the snug fit soon wears off as the case was clearly meant as a permanent case, not one that can cope with the wear and tear of constantly being taken on and off just so that you can use the camera or increase/decrease the volume. In the end it's gone the same place as the cases that didn't fit - in the bin :-(

2.0 out of 5 stars More a pamphlet than a book. 26 page basic tutorial on Knockout with flawed approach to teaching, 31 Jan. 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: Knockoutjs Starter (Paperback)
Packt Publishing are getting a reputation for rather poor rushed to market books that are extremely thin in content, and it's disappointing to report that this is another one of those. For your money you get 36 pages of a starter tutorial that would have made a good couple of blog posts. By page 11 you've written an incredibly simple bit of HTML and no Knockout at all to display "Hello World" so realistically you have 26 pages of tutorial.

I couldn't get the code to work. Snippets are thrown around with no real indication of where they should go, and no attempt to say "This is how you run what you've got before we move on to the next step". Download the code and what you get is a ton of .txt files containing each code snippet as it's presented, no complete script files where you can see "Oh he meant that to go in the View Model script" or "So that should run in the model script".

What's frustrating is you feel there's a good basic tutorial in here, that's been squandered in the rush to make a few bucks and just get the whole thing written in two or three hours. My advice would be to avoid wasting your money and do the free tutorials on the official Knockout site that have none of the shortcomings of this one, or try the excellent Knockout Fundamentals online training course on Pluralsight.

3.0 out of 5 stars Shoddy Blu-ray Transfer spoils an otherwise excellent release, 3 Aug. 2012
I'm not a huge Adele fan but I've been buying a whole bunch of music Blu-rays for my new Oppu player, and I have to say that so far as Blu-ray goes this is the worst of the lot. Which is very frustrating as the concert itself is fantastic and this concert made a convert out of me. Suddenly I can understand why this act is so popular (even with the f-bombs she feels she has to use to show how "street" she is, innit).

Where to start with the Blu-ray: Digital noise everywhere. No sharpness or detail on the crowd shots: most of the time the audience are just a messy, fuzzy blur. Other Blu-rays of concerts filmed at the same venue don't have any such problems. There's banding throughout. Soft focus on far too many shots. A lot of the time this just looks like a badly upscaled DVD, which is unforgiveable in this day and age.

Fortunately the audio is excellent (and you get a CD of the conert included).

Buy it if you're a fan or want to hear what all the fuss is about. Just don't expect a great picture. HD this isn't!

2.0 out of 5 stars "Hear the music as recorded". Hardly!, 24 Mar. 2012
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
These headphones remind me of Apple products - I reckon about £50 of the cost is the packaging. Which is a nice "surprise and delight" moment when you receive the product but actually when you analyse it why would you want your money spent this way? There's a lavish headphone case with a cabina - mine lasted 3 days before the poorly stitched hook the cabena attaches to tore away. Then there's the rather thick booklet. Looks nice. But open it up and you actually get every singe language in the world with just a couple of pages of informtion. Information so generic (to the whole range) that it's incomplete (no explanation of the fact you get two different leads in the box, one presumably needed if you want to talk).

The headphones themselves look cool, and are clearly designed for kids who believe hype and have more money than sense. OK, maybe that's a bit harsh. The headphones are stylish and generally well put together. But their whole raison d'etre is a quote from Dr Dre about people not hearing the music that was recorded. Buy these headphones and you're definitely not going to hear the music that was recorded. Bass, bass, bass. I guess if you're into bass-thudding hip-hop you may think the sound resembles what was intended. For other music genres forget it. The over-the-top bass is particularly noticeable on spoken word podcasts - which quite frankly sound terrible on these headphones.

Given that these are very expensive headphones marketed to iPhone and iPad users you'd think a better job could have been done of shielding the headphones from the noise a phone can make when electronic devices get near it. No, what you get here is constant irritating cross-interference. I'd blame the phone but my previous Boss and Sennheiser phones used with the same phone never suffered from these problems. The headphones are comfortable to wear, but make your ears sweat if worn for more than half an hour.

For the money spent I'm disappointed with these headphones. All style and hype, little sonic substance.

This review is from: Movies of the 2000s (Paperback)
This is the latest volume that charts decade by decade the best movies since the 1920's. This volume covers the years 2000-2010 and like earlier volumes is lavishly produced, although the choices are often controversial.

5.0 out of 5 stars Stunning, beautifully designed book that even non-designers will enjoy, 19 Feb. 2012
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
I should start this review with a disclaimer: I'm a developer, not a designer. I bought this book on a whim, wanting to understand more about design and why certain fonts click in certain contexts and others don't. I thought it might help me pick a new font to use for my new company web site.

Typography Reference has proved to be an excellent impulse purchase (proven by checking similar books aimed at the same audience in Waterstones). Don't let the rather dull cover fool you. This is a lavish, beautifully produced and designed book. As the authors explain in the introduction their aim s to cover the BREADTH of typography and point to other sources for the DEPTH. It more than lives up to that goal. More importantly it does so in a way that's exciting, inspirational and fun to read. I intended reading just a chapter of this book on a lazy Saturday and lost the whole day reading from start to finish. A book on typography that's hard to put down - who'd have thought it?!

I could give a breakdown of how the book is divided, but in reality there's only one thing you need to know: it covers the basics, the history, the main fonts, creative usage, inspirational ideas - pretty much everything you'd want. Just go and buy it already!

1.0 out of 5 stars Lasted 3 months then locked solid, 5 Feb. 2012
It's interesting to read so many negative "real world" reviews for a player that has had nothing but five star reviews from the press. I bought this and didn't have the "upside down internals" issue but the clunky, unwiedly behemoth suddenly started getting a bit fussy about discs and lo and behold managed to lock itself shut and refused to action any attempt to open the draw for a disk. This is my third experience of a La Cie product and they've all been extremely negative. Yet the journalists love them??!? Needless to say they're a brand I now try and avoid. I've been bitten one time too many by this company and it's really third rate quality control.

5.0 out of 5 stars Really nicely packaged, compact, portable post-it set, 26 Nov. 2011

This is a very useful, compact portable post-it note set with markers. It's a bargain at the asking price. The case is nice and small and while it's not luxury, isn't just a cardboard box.
