I felt as though I was there with the soldier in the trenches. Very good descriptions. This is no doubt the story of many soldiers in the First World War but the writing in the form of letters makes compulsive reading.

3.0 out of 5 stars Almost four stars!, 27 Nov. 2013

Many times the words made me smile. Some of the symptoms really hit home.
I like the way each chapter is set out but the writer tries to cover all types of people by question and answer and that approach does not quite come off.
A good reada

Fast pace, interesting characters, corrupt politicians and businessmen are the same the world over. Could their corruptness really lead to this? I doubt if the people are strong enough but in fiction they are and it makes a great story.

Good light reading if you feel stressed. Not exactly high brow! Definitely a woman's book. The best description is 'enjoyable'.

I read this as a child and neither understood nor liked it.
This time, 50 years later, I loved it! The descriptions were so good, so real, I felt I was Jane Eyre! The Author's heart was in this book; sheer brilliance.

Must You Go?: My Life with Harold Pinter
Must You Go?: My Life with Harold Pinter
by Lady Antonia Fraser
Edition: Hardcover

5.0 out of 5 stars What a treat!, 28 Feb. 2010
This is extremely readable. Based her diaries, Antonia Fraser describes her interesting life with Harold Pinter. She clearly had her feet on the ground coping with her artistic husband, her many children and grandchildren and numerous theatrical friends. This is a book which I did not want to put down but life has to go on as normal and there are other things which have to be done. This book can be put down and taken up again easily; I got right back into her life the moment I started reading again.
Romance was the background of her life with Harold Pinter and although the end is sad, the book is generally full of joy and thus a really good read.
