It could be just me but I think that the waistband on these could do with being a little higher? I seem to find myself pulling them back up quite often and they can end up tight against my cream-crackers in order to get the waist position right.

3.0 out of 5 stars Feeble magnet spoils it, 14 Feb. 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
It fits the phone well, looks smart and protects the screen fine, so it does what it says on the tin, I suppose. However, the magnet in the fold-over tab is very small and clings on for dear life.

Fortunately, I have a cargo pocket in most of my trousers which the 'phone lives in when not in use. Therefore, OK, but could be better.

4.0 out of 5 stars Excellent value for the money, 25 Mar. 2013

I didn't want to pay an arm and a leg as I only use headphones in the workplace.

These have a good sound, are nice and light, easily adjustable and comfortable. I do suspect tht they might get you a bit sweaty in a warm environment but this is the UK after all....

Thoroughly recommended.

4.0 out of 5 stars Feel-good film of the first order, 25 Mar. 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Bought for my partner and for Valetines Day, we watched it together last night and enjoyed it as much as at the cinema.

Some ensemble films with big-name casts suffer from poor character development. You can end up feeling that you are none the wiser as to what makes the characters tick when the film ends. I'm happy to say that this is not the case with this film and that all of the major players parts are well defined, as indeed are some of the minor roles.

The Blu-ray experience is well worth the money, for the film is a riot of sound and colour throughout, especially in the Jaipur bazaar and street scenes.

It's great fun and we are sure to be watching it again with friends soon.

2.0 out of 5 stars Be careful what you buy!!, 7 Feb. 2013

This review is from: Paradise [VINYL] (Vinyl)
This item was bought for me as a Christmas present but was not what I (or the purchaser) believed it was suppossed to be.

Please be warned that this vinyl release is NOT the 'Paradise Edition' of the "Born To Die" album. What it ACTUALLY is, is a card sleeve that contains the "Paradise vinyl" with the tracks listed. The "Born To Die" vinyl is NOT included but there is space in the sleeve to fit this once you HAVE bought it.

The reviews listed here mainly relate to the CD package where it IS possible to by a Paradise edition package that DOES include two disks. However because of the bollocks way that Amazon muddles up reviews for different packages and formats, the potential for confusion is everpresent. It's also not helpful that the product description doesn't warn you and should, IMHO, explicitly state what the package comprises of.

5.0 out of 5 stars Neil Young proves that less is best, 4 Jan. 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
I loved "Living With War" as it was originally released; all those years after "Southern Man", "Ohio" and "Ambulance Blues", Neil still had a political point to make and didn't mind alienating the redneck, tub-thumping, Bush-supporting contingent in doing it. War in Iraq was wrong and the US-led coalition was an abberation (at least, in his eyes).

The chance to hear the same songs in a stripped-back manner, free from the choir but full-on in vitriol, was too good an opportunity to miss.

Rick Rosas and Chad Cromwell make for an excellent and tight Crazy Horse stand-in act for Neil, as they did on the "Eldorado" EP back in 1989. The as-live performances of the three musicians, with just the addition of the trumpet of Tom Bray, push the songs right into your face. Which, of course, is what Neil wanted.

If you believe that the invasion of Iraq was a noble and just act, without any construction business considerations and with the price of crude being a complete non-issue, then this will not be an album for you. On the other hand, if you want to know just how angry Neil Young can get when he feels a great injustice has been done and the US public have been lied to, then place your order now.

I do prefer this version but be warned: this album was never intended to be a comfortable ride.

Having said that I prefer this version, there was something richly ironic about the original album ending with a syrupy choral rendition of "America The Beautiful!". It's missing here but you could argue that Neil has already got what he wanted to say off of his chest?

5.0 out of 5 stars Steve Earle - risky and dangerous as always, 4 Jan. 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: Copperhead Road (Audio CD)
My pre-knowldege of this album was limited; "Devil's Right Hand" I knew and loved, from the time I had seen him perform it at Cambridge Folk Festival. However, the album is certainly bigger than the one track I knew.

I believe that there may be better Steve Earle albums out there waiting. If so, they must be very good indeed.

Excellent stomping country-rock which grabs you by the balls and doesn't really let-up.

For those who don't know much about Robyn Hitchcock, "Ole Tarantula" is a good place to put your toe in the water.

Aided and abetted by Peter Buck, Bill Rieflin, and Scott McGaughey, permanent and stage members of the now defunct REM, plus numerous other 'celeb' contributors, Hitchcock weaves his lyrical magic around his catchy songs.

Trying to make sense of the lyrics is challenging fun - they DO mean something to Hitchcock, but I think you had to be there on that trip, so to speak, in order to know where 'the pink rotating elephant' was (Washington State, apparently!).

In terms of the nonsense rhyme nature of much of the maerial, Edward Lear springs to mind. However, please don't let this comparison put you off. Apart from the really great tunes that the words are wrapped around, here and there are heart-warming (or should that be, heart-wrenching?) and more accessible numbers.

"N.Y. Doll" tells us of the late, great, Arthur 'Killer' Kane, bassist with the New York Dolls and his life after fame and fortune. "Underground Sun", is a song about a dead friend of Hitchcock.

A great place to start on your voyage of Robyn Hitchcock discovery. Enjoy!
