1.0 out of 5 stars Techincally great, quality of finish not up to scratch - AVOID, 7 Jan 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Bought as a present, they look great out of the box. Topped them up with salt / pepper and set off using them. Looked great and performed beautifully...

...that is until the black laquer started to chip off. The paint is not well bonded to the wooden body, so when you grind the mills the metal washer between the bottom and top parts rubs against the paint work, and the paint chips from the neck of the mill leaving white primer and wood showing - completely obvious.

We thought that maybe it was just a one off and got Amazon to change it, which they did promptly and professionally (big tick for Amazon). However, on receipt of the second set even before using them we could see the same problem developing. Also, the sheen on one of the tops of the grinders was "satin" compared to "gloss" on the other. They'll be going back too.

Clearly they have big problems getting the finish right.

The moral of the story? Avoid painted mills...

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent film!, 30 Aug 2003
This review is from: Das Experiment [DVD] [2002] (DVD)
Whenever I go rent a movie I have the dilemma of getting something "different" or getting the usual Hollywood, Americanised (but more often than not dissatisfying) safe bet. I went for the risky option and was not disappointed.
This film is thought provoking and mercifully miles away from the stuff that comes out of the States. It is atmospherically shot and excellently crafted. It does not use excessive gore or shock to influence you and hide behind a poor story.
The exploration into human psychology is fascinating and, whithin the parameters of a film storyline, refreshingly more believeable than the standard drivel that usually graces the big screen.
A must see if you want to take a break from the usual rubbish which stands like the hoarding round a vacant lot (nice to look at but no substance behind it)!
