1.0 out of 5 stars REMASTERED!! SOUNDS LIKE TAPE RECORDING - A JOKE, 30 July 2013
This review is from: Troops of Tomorrow (Audio CD)
Lets get one thing straight right from the start - I love this album!!! But there's a big problem here - THE REMASTERING ON THIS ALBUM IS DISGUSTING!!! I HAVE NEVER HEARD SUCH AN AWFUL JOB DONE ON AN ALBUM!!! IT SOUNDS LIKE ITS JUST BEEN COPIED DIRECTLY FROM AN OLD TAPE PLAYER.

HOW THE HELL ARE COMPANIES ALLOWED TO SELL SUCH POOR AND INFERIOR PRODUCTS TO THE PUBLIC WITHOUT ANY KIND OF REPRIMAND/PUNISHMENT IS BEYOND ME!!!

My vinyl copy is clearer than this in every respect.

Just to re-iterate; AVOID PURCHASING THIS VERSION OF THIS ALBUM:-

5.0 out of 5 stars Conny Takes Psychedelic/Funk/Rock Further, 1 Dec 2012
This review is from: Psychonaut (Audio CD)
Listening to this album for the first time, I have to admit to being very pleasently suprised!! This is a great album - Conny takes his psychedelic rock influences a little further into the sound and has produced some great songs with attitude, kick and swagger.

This album has it all!!! From the opening track, "Last Mistake" to the last............ its great!! If you like Electric Boys (mixed with a few extra ingredients) then you gonna love this.

4.0 out of 5 stars AT LAST!! PROPER ROCK MUSIC RETURNS FOR A WHILE !!, 17 Nov 2012
AT LAST, REAL ROCK MUSIC FROM A PROPER ROCK BAND WITH MUSICIANS WHO CAN PLAY THEIR INSTRUMENTS AND A CLASS SINGER WHO CAN SING WITHOUT SOUNDING LIKE EVERYBODY ELSE.

AT LAST, A BREATH OF FRESH AIR AGAIN FROM OUTSIDE THE USELESS CORPORATE CONTROLLED WORLD OF CONVEYOR BELT MUSIC!!!

Aerosmith return!! After such a long time since they released a full album of new songs, its great to hear the formula and chemistry of these 5 guys is still there as they've produced a great cocktail of tracks on this new long awaited album (shame about the amount of ballads again but, as always, they're great ballads). When I listened to it for the first time, I immediately thought - thank god for the chance to listen to PROPER rock-n-roll again. The album starts off with a strange opening commentary and then kicks straight in to a classic sounding Aerosmith song - LUV XXX. This song is great; the hard straight hitting drum beat, the classic Aerosmith guitaring and those unmistakable Tyler vocals - just pure Aerosmith!! From then on, its a great mixture of songs all with the Aerosmith stamp firmly banged into them.

For me, great tracks are LUV XXX, Out Go The Lights, Legendary Child, Street Jesus, Lover Alot, Oh Yeah and Beautiful.

There are 2 songs where other band members do the main vocals instead of Steve Tyler - I feel that they would have been better with Steve Tyler doing the vocal but they are still perfectly listenable :)

ON DELUXE 2 CD VERSION - There are 3 bonus tracks; they are OK and worth a listen but arent quite up to the strength of the songs on the main album.

Lets take our hats off to the guys for sticking with it and giving us an album of new songs that has finally awakened us from the music nightmare of the last few years that we've all endured!!! I firmly believe that there are still REAL bands out there and their is real music to be heard if only it were allowed to get the airplay that it deserves!!! The trouble is, real bands/music is being stifled by the big money corporates, (possibly in association with) reality shows and the like, making quick millions (£'s) just pushing out manufactured teeny-bopper dross which is all most people nowadays ever get to hear - and that is why (what I consider to be) proper music doesnt get the recognition or sales it deserves.

WELCOME BACK AEROSMITH - WELCOME BACK A PROPER BAND AND MUSIC!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars One Brilliant (Mostly) Unheardof, Underated Albums Of The 80's, 4 Aug 2009
This review is from: Shuttered Room (Audio CD)
After all the time that's past, tracks on this album still blow me away - I just love it. This album has a vibe about it that this band has never equalled; in fact, NOTHING else that the band has done since even comes close to any of the original tracks on this album - its just one of those albums that stands out for me (I like a lot of different types of music)!!! I personally dont think there's a bad track (the 1982 original tracklisting) on it.

I HAVE TO CONFESS THAT I DON'T LIKE THE ALTERING OF THE ORIGINAL TRACK LISTING (They've been put in a different order).

I DON'T LIKE THE ADDITION OF TRACKS THAT WERE NOT ON THE ORIGINAL RELEASE AND, WHY HAS TIME IN A GLASS BEEN OMMITTED (BAD MISTAKE (PROBABLY A TACTICAL IDEA BY RECORD COMPANY FOR SOME REASON )????

THE BONUS TRACKS ARE OK.

Orig 1982 vinyl T/Listing:- 01 Some People, 02 Stand Or Fall, 03 Cameras In Paris, 04 Shuttered Room, 05 The Fool, 06 Lost Planes, 07 I Live, 08 Sinking Island, 09 Time In A Glass, 10 Red Skies.

That said - still buy this album, its just something unique and totally different from anything else I've ever heard (before, during or since the 80's)!!
