5.0 out of 5 stars Another great installment, 31 Jan 2014

This review is from: Battle Earth X (Kindle Edition)
Another brilliant installment to this series. The story takes a new twist as Mitch Taylor embarks on a Battle Star Galactica type scenario to search for a new home for mankind, whilst Kelly who is still stranded on earth gives up on any hope of winning the war and starts a guerrilla campaign to make the enemy pay. I love the character development of Kelly, who in my opinion has become the main attraction in this series. Another quality, nail biting read from Mr Thomson which ended on a cliff hanger. Keep them coming please.

5.0 out of 5 stars Jones is back in the fight, 24 Oct 2013
This review is from: Battle Earth VIII (Kindle Edition)
The first 6 books of this series are really good and I recommend them to anyone who might be considering reading them. However I almost stopped reading the series after book 7 which was an anomaly in an otherwise really good series. So I was a little concerned about Book 8, but it turned out to be a cracker just like the first 6 installments. If you have made it this far in the series I would definitely recommend Book 8.

Just like the first instalment the story moves quickly and is an easy read. The characters are great and as the story progresses it's impossible to put down. Already finished book 3 "The War of Pawns" and seriously can't wait until the next instalment. More please Mr Harris.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Sci-Fi Yarn, 26 July 2012
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
I came across this by book by accident and took a chance. It's a brilliant sci-fi yarn, I really enjoyed Fringe Worlds and the good news is that the next two instalments are even better. The pace is fast moving and easy to read. Love the characters too, especially Riyad the ex-Taliban space pirate! I seriously can't wait cant until the 4th book in the series is released. Highly recommended and well worth the cost.

5.0 out of 5 stars Taking Care of Business, 17 Nov 2009
If you enjoyed reading Jay Dobbins "No Angel" you will love "Befriend and Betray" as it is far superior in every way. The story line is extremely engaging and exciting. The book not only details the infiltration into various motorcycle clubs, such as the Hells Angels and Bandidos etc but also criminal groups such as the KKK and the Russian Mafia. A very enjoyable book that is a rollercoaster of set ups, and takedowns by the various law agencies that Alex has worked for over the years. If you want to know more about the criminal element in biker gangs, and what they get up to - This is definitely the book for you

A good read from start to end. The book can however be a little dry from time to time, but is undeniably a story worth reading. The book gives a great description of the various countries, and cultures that Robert travels through. Don't expect this book to be about a professional smuggler that inevitably gets caught by the authorities. Its on a much smaller scale, where its all about acquiring money to live on, rather than greed or the accumulation of excessive wealth.

Loose Cannon: My Life & Serious Crime
Loose Cannon: My Life & Serious Crime
by Joe Cannon

4.0 out of 5 stars Cannon, 3 Sep 2009
This is a great crime book that does not glamorise the crimes committed by Joe over the last 50 years. It is in fact one of the one best UK crime books I have ever read, and is a truly gritty read. The various prison breaks in the book are a personal favorite. The really great thing about this book is that if you are a fan of the genre, you will recognise and know many of the characters, and villians that Joe has worked with over the years such as Mad Frank, The Krays, Ronnie Knight, Ronnie Biggs etc the list is endless.

3.0 out of 5 stars Paul Ferris - Deadly Divisions, 13 Aug 2009

This is OK, but just that. This is Paul Ferris first fiction book after co writing a number of true crime books with Reg McKay. I can see where Paul's extensive experience in the underworld has come into play and there are many gritty characters in the book. However I would recommend giving this one a miss and reading some of Paul's other books which are far better e.g The Ferris Conspiracy, Villains - it takes one to know one. etc
