Eurydice Street: A Place in Athens
Eurydice Street: A Place in Athens
by Sofka Zinovieff

Price: £7.99

5.0 out of 5 stars An excellent book about life in modern-day Athens, 4 Jan. 2015
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
As a trained anthropologist, Sofka Zinovieff has a discerning eye for the various aspects of daily life in Athens in combination with the history, traditions and physical environment of modern Greece. She writes well and conveys her love of the country while keeping to an objective and fair-minded approach. The book is easy to read, amusing and enjoyable as well as informative.
It is interesting however to see how much has already changed in the 10 years since it was first published and since the still ongoing 'crisis'.

Death Comes to Pemberley [DVD]
Dvd ~ Matthew Rhys

5.0 out of 5 stars A very well-made film for a pleasant evening., 9 Nov. 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
I liked this mini series better than the book itself. P.D. James wrote a (rather mediocre) murder story set in Jane Austen's fictional Pemberley as a continuation of Pride and Prejudice, out of which an interesting film has been made that not only holds your interest but gives a very good view of the times and place.
Script, casting, sets, directing all get full marks.

Kurt Hahn's Schools and Legacy: To Discover You Can be More and Do More Than You Believed
Kurt Hahn's Schools and Legacy: To Discover You Can be More and Do More Than You Believed
by Martin Flavin
Edition: Paperback

5.0 out of 5 stars Of great interest and value to a small public of pedagogical and historical interests, 9 Nov. 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
5 stars because it is one of a kind, a very interesting account of a story not told before regarding Kurt Hahn's schools, focusing on Salem. However, the style of writing is somewhat careless, repetitive and confusing, and the book is inexcusably full of typographical and spelling mistakes. But it is a book well worth reading for anyone interested in the man, the schools or educational matters.

Price: £7.53

4.0 out of 5 stars a good easy read on an interesting subject, 8 Nov. 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: Freud's Mistress (Paperback)
Well-written novel for an easy read based on interesting subject matter. Though this is definitely fiction, it seems to be based on some solid material to go on regarding Freud's private life and possible affair with his wife's sister..

4.0 out of 5 stars a fascinating story, 1 Mar. 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Truly amazing story of an enigmatic man's career in forgery. The writing is good and keeps your interest, though at times rather complicated and demanding, making it somewhat hard to follow every twist and turn.
