Suunto Vector - Black

5.0 out of 5 stars First impressions - excellent outdoor watch, 23 Jan 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: Suunto Vector (Sports)
The Vector has been around for some time now and is generally highly-rated for its reliability, accuracy and practicality. Out of the box, it is easy to set up initial functions but you need to take some time to work through the manual and it is very helpful to watch any of the YouTube demonstrations, especially for a full set-up, which isn't exactly intuitive. Although having quite a substantial profile, the Vector is light and comfortable to wear, even if you have slim wrists. Some reviewers feel that the watch is a bit plastic and cheap looking, but from my viewpoint, it stands up to something like the Timex Marathon in overall appearance. The dial is easy to read, but I agree that the need to hold the Backlight button for 2 seconds is a bit of a nuisance, plus you may find yourself cycling through the settings without meaning to do so. Haven't had it long enough to do more than share initial impressions but very pleased so far. Delivery was super-fast and the discount beat all the alternative suppliers at the time I ordered it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Super-light and practical, 5 Oct 2013

Simple idea, which looks like it has been well-executed: a lightweight plastic, which appears pretty robust, in an insulated sleeve, with a sealable lid and tape handle. Right kind of capacity for walking/ camping / trekking, and helps hot drinks stay that way without mug being too hot to hold comfortably. Too early yet to see how tight the seal is over time, compared to the kind of travel mug used when commuting. However, GSI equipment is usually of good quality and this seems no exception.

5.0 out of 5 stars High quality as usual with Kent, 4 Oct 2013

A simple but well-made small pocket comb: none of the ragged teeth and seams which are usual with cheaper combs. Neat design easily fits a hip or breast pocket and the resin from which the comb is made seems very strong and has a pleasing sheen. It is only a comb - though might as well have a decently-made one and this fits the bill. Kent are known for the quality of their products, so this was also value for money.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent sound from tiny amp., 1 Aug 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Had expected sound volume and quality to improve when using this amplifier but pleasantly surprised by just how much crisper and richer tracks were in practice. The unit is only a little larger than the AAA battery which it uses and the simple connector lead is not too long to get in the way when commuting. The housing is neat and compact and uses relatively light-weight plastic, so some common-sense is needed not to treat it too roughly. Almost next-day delivery and competitive price were a bonus: will see how robust this pocket sized amp is over time but extremely pleased with it so far.

4.0 out of 5 stars Handy, small sharpener, 29 July 2013

This review is from: Wenger Mini Sharp (Sports)
Bought to have a small but good-quality sharpener for multi-tools and penknives readily to hand. Did not want a full-size stone, as that is not needed for my purposes: this fits the bill. Although the holder is plastic, it is strong enough for everyday use and compact when the sharpening surface is folded away. It is not what I would call key-ring size, unless your bunch of keys is as substantial as a prison officer's, but small enough to easily slip into a coat pocket, a pouch or a rucksack pocket. The attached key-ring is just a bit too large and gets in the way but is easily replaced or removed. So far, the sharpening surface has worked well to bring the right edge back to the small blades for which it is chiefly designed. For more extensive use, or for larger tools, this pocket sharpener is too small and probably too coarse to give an even edge but that is not its main function.

Luger LR 6x18 Compact Binocular Black
Luger LR 6x18 Compact Binocular Black

4.0 out of 5 stars Good quality, compact and functional, 22 July 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Bought for use while walking or in city breaks to view building details or landscapes. Priority was lightweight but of good quality and so far these binoculars fit the bill. There are more highly specified models and there are one or two features which might have been better - for instance, the hinge is a little bulky when folded - but nothing which is a major issue. Magnification and sharpness of focus are well within the range I expected and the build quality of lens and body are both excellent. For intensive use they may not suit everyone, as they are compact and the field of view and magnification reflect this, but for my purposes they are excellent. Only reason for not giving five stars is that I haven't owned them long enough to comment on their reliability over a sensible timespan. So far though, very pleased with the binoculars and with both price and speed of delivery.

4.0 out of 5 stars Compact and functional, 8 July 2013

Looking for a small, refillable lighter as a backup for longer trips but not something as heavy as a Zippo or equivalent and bit more sturdy than a disposable Bic. So far, seems to be a good choice: lights easily and reliably, reasonably wind-proof and very simple to use and to refill. Small but strong flame and not so small that it would be hard to use with wet, cold hands or if using thin gloves - heavy, winter-weight mitts or gloves might be trickier of course. Pretty sturdy construction and close-fitting seal, so no leakage so far. A lot cheaper than, say, equivalent models made by County Comm and, as far as I can see, just as good performance. Delivery was very speedy, so would purchase again.

5.0 out of 5 stars Neat and well-made, 8 July 2013

A small, slim, good-quality wallet/ credit card holder, bought for use when travelling and wanting not to carry a large, bulky wallet. Holds the main cards I need to take and has space for bank-notes. If you need to carry a large number of cards and a substantial amount of currency, then this wouldn't be a good choice. If you are looking for a much smaller wallet, perhaps to go along with a money belt or pouch, and something that won't make a hefty bulge in your jacket or hip pocket, this is a good choice, in decent quality leather. Supplier had rapid delivery at competitive price.

World's Smallest Most Powerful Battery Operated Shaver
World's Smallest Most Powerful Battery Operated Shaver
Offered by ODSL
Price: 4.98

5.0 out of 5 stars Ideal for travel, 8 July 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Yes, it is plastic and looks a bit cheap and probably will not shave as well as a more expensive electric or wet-razor. However, it is perfectly functional, very light and surprisingly powerful for such a small shaver. It is also very compact and well-suited to someone who has to travel a lot. Have given my original purchase a lot of use and been very pleased with the shave - have bought a second to leave at the office. Drawbacks : not the sturdiest construction and the switch and battery terminals will break if handled roughly. Battery life is usually very good, at least in my experience, though other reviewers have not been pleased with battery life, and the 2x AAA are easy to find. At this price ( and very rapid delivery), good value if you accept it is a very basic razor but fine for its intended usage.

5.0 out of 5 stars Expensive but worth it, 6 July 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Needed a mug which did seal properly in use, not just in the advert. This seems to be it - handy size for the commute, keeps drinks hot for at least 2- 3 hours ( have not tested on longer journeys) and the seal is effective, even when the mug is not upright, for example in a bag on a luggage rack. As others have mentioned, take care when drinking, as the temperature remains high and it is sensible to depress the seal button when filling with hot liquids to allow any steam to escape. The shape is comfortable and offers a reasonable grip unless you have very small hands. On a table or similar surface, the mug is reasonably stable, despite its slightly top-heavy appearance, but the shape means that it will not fit the mug-holder of a number of cars. The only snag I have noticed so far is that the removable top section gets fairly warm in use, so heat is lost from the contents.
