4.0 out of 5 stars Great colour - great service - 4 starts as transformer only suits occasional daily use., 11 Nov. 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Lovely colours and great service. The 4 stars is because they are only for intermittent use - continual use for a long period each day over long periods seems to burn out the transformer.
This wasn't clear from the description.
Great service with replacement transformers though.
There are a lot more yellow than reds and oranges. Some months after purchasing I decided to get rid of the yellow.
To get rid of the yellow and so bring out the warm glow I cut the yellow strand. There are 3 wires. If you look closely at the wires leaving these are in a horizontal line - if you are looking at the front of the transformer with the label and black control button.
The centre wire is the common positive power line.
The wire on the right (the black button ) side is the red/orange feed.
The wire on the far left (away from the black button side) is the yellow line.
Cutting this and putting insulating tape over the cut ends then means you just have the warmer reds and yellows.
Because the lights are transparent the non-illuminating yellows are not that obvious.

1.0 out of 5 stars Why is this cheaper and better in the states?, 17 April 2014
If you look on amazon dot com in the US you will see coreldraw graphics suite x7 academic going for $90.
Even with shipping and tax it works our cheaper and yet is the full, unrestricted version.

As a long term customer of Corel I am not impressed and won't be buying this UK version.

5.0 out of 5 stars Used successfully for VGA output for presentations via digital projector, 12 April 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This is one experience of using Samsung smartphone / tablet to run presentations via a projector.

To connect your Samsung Note 10.1 2014 or Galaxy S4 to a VGA to use to

Cable Matters MHL 2.0 to HDMI Adapter (£11) (supposed to work by phone power alone - but did not. But as this would exhauust battery after a while I happily used the USB power connector - this worked fine. I plugged it into a portable back up battery: I used this: **Skyrocket 12000mah Charger Power Bank or Apple** but any USB power source would do)

LINDY Micro HDMI Female to HDMI Male Adapter (£9) - this is needed to fit the HDMI-VGA converter

KanaaN Micro HDMI to VGA Adapter (£13). You also need a 3.5 audio jack if you want audio out as well from the VGA adapter, I carry this: **Duronic Coiled 1M Black Auxilary** with a **PC Arena 3.5mm Coupler Adaptor Stereo Jack Female Audio Joiner Connector** to connect to the speakers.

Seems to be important to connect everything up and power up the MHL before fianlly plugging into the phone.
Takes a few seconds to then send the picture.
Do check your VGA cable - I thought this setup wasn't working - until swapped the cable.

Finally, as all this is wired your phone/tablet may be close to the projector. So to be able to walk around consider this for a laser pointer and control over powerpoint considert this:
Bluetooth Wireless Rii Mini PC Keyboard Touchpad Laser Pointer Ver 2 Black for PC (£15)

Or if you have friends in the USA: Satechi Bluetooth Smart Pointer: more expensive but much neater...

Once all this is set up you can use Apps to run the powerpoint presentation, play videos etc.

3.0 out of 5 stars Works with Samsung S4 - It is the iPazzPort, 23 Mar. 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Out of the box it works fine - immediately recognised when paired with smart phone.
The box has an iPazzPort leaflet inside - so I assume that Rii = iPazz.
Odd that the Rii has better reviews than one marketed as Ipazzport.
No CD in box - reason for the 3 stars - otherwise it works fine.

3.0 out of 5 stars Kindle version review - diagrams illegible and not that many illustrations anyway...., 27 Dec. 2012
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
While the text seems useful I just wanted to warn those intending to purchase on kindle that some of the diagrams are completely unreadable due to microscopic text in the large diagrams.
Possibly these could be read on the Kindle for PC version.
I would also add that "fully illustrated" means a few summary diagrams made into something more visual in the first chapters and images of the stretches etc. So there is a diagram showing the major tension points in the body - an outline of the body with a handful of dots in vaguely anatomical positions. A bullet pointed list would have done the same job really...
This to me is nothing special compared to other self-help guides to mindfulness - so I think the claim of 'the first fully illustrated guide' is rather overblown. I was expecting a book littered with helpful diagrams - I learn visually so this sounded very interesting. A better description is 'occasional illustrations in many chapters with necessary illustrations of the yoga poses and stretches'.

Hence the average review.

Thinking, Fast and Slow
Thinking, Fast and Slow
by Daniel Kahneman
Edition: Paperback
Price: £6.99

5.0 out of 5 stars Profoundly thought-provoking, 3 Dec. 2012
I have been listening to the audio-book version which is an excellent production.
I have found this book to be very thought provoking. While the author does have quite strong viewpoints there is a refreshing openness about this - as explored in the chapter about his discussions with Klein.

I have a particular interest in mindfulness-based approaches and there are so many resonances with this book and these approaches.

There are also so many intriguing accounts of the way we are inherently biased to non-statistical thinking.

A must-read I would say for any thoughtful person...

5.0 out of 5 stars An excellent antidote to positivity claptrap, 13 Mar. 2012
I found the book amusing, insightful and to have a excellent dry wit throughout. The reviewer criticizing the book as boring and long I think was looking for a different genre. Her very thoughtful critique of positive psychology in general and Martin Seligman's blustering defence of his unscientific approach in particular were especially refreshing.

4.0 out of 5 stars Seem fine to me, 12 Mar. 2012
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Unlike the heart version with over £4 p&p per heart (regardless of how many) these were better value as postage is same regardless of number.
If you want long lasting heat all these reusable gel ones are not that effective. There is about 5 mins of heat from these. I did not expect any more hence reasonable review.
But I have found they do reset ok - 30 mins in hot water. I use a steamer to hold them in then cover with boiling water and simmer with a tight lid. Then remove and allow to cool without disturbing them.

2.0 out of 5 stars Dubious science, 8 April 2008
This book does have some interesting neurology but my concern is about how reliably it is reported when she makes some rather sweeping generalisations and is rather partial. As fundamentally we do not understand how consciousness is generated and much of neurological function is only explicable at the simplest level I feel she provides a sense of certainty where there is none. She presents highly controversial theories with no critique - acupuncture meridians detects through tracers, the quantum brain. She makes really crass errors - talking about 'under-developed invertebrate midbrains" - I think she means 'lower vertebrate' - but that is very poor language from an evolutionary perspective. She says the human brain has tripled in volume in the last 100,000 years which is nonsense. And anyone making these errors claiming a neurological understanding would either be very poorly read, highly uncritical of internet drivel as a likely source, or has a rubbish editor who is making errors on her behalf.
So I worry about how trustworthy her reporting of the research she cites actually is. And any book claining to be 'Scientific' using the word 'proof' for something as slippery as meditation to define goes against a proper scientific rigour in which all currently accepted claims remain yet to be disproven.
