4.0 out of 5 stars Why is this band so poorly known in the UK?, 13 Feb. 2016

This really does grow on you but it is more of a relax and absorb record than the soaring heights of the infectious "get up and dance" Arabian Horse.

5.0 out of 5 stars Really great album, 8 Feb. 2016

This review is from: Tied To The Moon (Audio CD)
I heard a very small piece of this album of the radio and was intrigued......
This really is a great album if you like the style. Quite unlike any other artist that I can think of - a mix of folk, country, jazz, blues and much besides. Perhaps SLIGHTLY Natalie Merchant, but better? Not only is Rachel's voice very attractive the musical arrangements are superb - being a guitar addict it gets my vote in spades.
Take a listen on YouTube - if you like this at all you'll probably be a near instant fan and admirer.

IKEA FLOOR LAMP ALLUMINIUM STYLISH LIGHT STYLISH BRAND NEW UK LERSTA Fusion (TM)
IKEA FLOOR LAMP ALLUMINIUM STYLISH LIGHT STYLISH BRAND NEW UK LERSTA Fusion (TM)
Offered by Fusion Online
Price: £18.47

4.0 out of 5 stars Built to the Ikea price - cheap, 4 Feb. 2016
For the price this is a major bargain, but it is very lightly built - it's built to the price. Most of the metal is thin(ish) aluminium, so very easily dented/damaged. (It is weighted though, so is stable.)
The position of the switch was a pain for my use too.
I went to Ikea and actually bought one from their good selection of floor-standing reading lamps that was around 3 times the price of this (in-store prices - as mentioned in another review Lerstra lamps are £11 collected from Ikea).
It takes an E27 lamp (a major pain), no doubt because it is distributed throughout their European chain where ES rather than bayonet lamp caps are normal.
For use as a reading lamp, a 3 or 3.5W LED lamp is almost certainly more than adequate for most people - it is for me.

NOTE - maximum lamp wattage is 15W

4.0 out of 5 stars Really good read if you have an interest in the subject, 2 Feb. 2016
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
A really good read, but I am not at all sure who or where this book is pitched at as it is a rather short and very general non-technical discussion about skunks, their evolution, their place in man's history and customs, biology and status in the world.
It is also terribly anthropomorphic in parts too, and inaccurate in parts - for instance, it states that removal of the animals' scent glands (to be able to safely keep them as pets) is illegal in the UK - it isn't, but it does have to be done by a vet'.
Personally, I find the animals fascinating enough to plough through what would be a conventional scientific monograph or text book about them (which probably do not exist), so this makes for very light reading for me. So, it should make a very interesting and informative but mostly uncomplicated read for anyone, of any age over something like 10 years old who has an interest in the real life Pepe Le Pew and his relations (it does include discussion of pheromones and sex in both skunks and humans).

This is one of a large number of Reaktion monographs - presumably they are broadly similar, so if you like this try another in the series - I shall.

5.0 out of 5 stars Simple - great music, 28 Jan. 2016

This is just great music that I return to time and again. Understated and mellow, simple and complicated at the same time.
Forget the genre, or any other classification, it is just soothes the soul, which is surely one of the things that music is meant to do - sit back or dance, either way - enjoy, and enjoy some more.

Pro Audio Metal 3.5mm Stereo Jack to 2 RCA Phono Plugs Cable Gold 3m
Pro Audio Metal 3.5mm Stereo Jack to 2 RCA Phono Plugs Cable Gold 3m

4.0 out of 5 stars Very cheap, 16 Jan. 2016
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
These cables, or at least the plugs with different cable, appear under numerous listings on Amazon at various prices, the ones delivered here were a match to the pic' on this listing.

The plugs are mediocre quality - inside the metal shells they are cheap injection-moulded soft plastic - probably polyethylene. The cable is also quite stiff, so holds lots of kinks and coils. Being a figure 8 cable on these, the cable will gradually split apart unless the end of the split in the cable between the RCA plugs is either taped or cable-tied.
They are very cheap and probably moderately robust, although only time would tell on that. You get what you pay for in the vast majority of cases in this world........................

4.0 out of 5 stars Gets surprisingly hot, 9 Jan. 2016
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
For only 8W these get VERY hot in a reading lamp with reflector - too hot to hold - although being Philips I assume that they are a genuine 8W.
They are a look-alike in colour for low watt incandescent - slightly yellowish as a 2700K lamp should be.
For low key, discrete, lighting I would suggest an even lower power LED lamp such as 3 or 3.5W - probably better for a reading lamp too.

Dated nonsense, even the title song is not a patch on the many versions produced since. The music is samey, with no variety or change of pace.
This film has absolutely nothing going for it.

4.0 out of 5 stars A bargain for the price, but, 2 Jan. 2016
At the time of writing this review there are 8 listings on Amazon for Lersta lamps, the most expensive at over £90 plus p&p.
For the price this is a major bargain, but it is very lightly built - it's built to the price. Most of the metal is thin(ish) aluminium, so very easily dented/damaged. (It is weighted though, so is stable.)

2.0 out of 5 stars No Bargain, 19 Dec. 2015
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
These are round-head nails, which is reasonably unusual for masonry nails - they are usually lost head so that they can be punched below the surface of what is being fixed to the masonry (usually timber).
There are also no really useful long sizes (50mm+) in the box - the longest is 40mm, which is stated in the description. I can't really think of a use for the very short sizes that would not be far better done using something other than masonry nails (you DO NOT hang pictures or mirrors using masonry nails!!!). The short sizes will also not penetrate a traditional thickness of render and plaster if used on internal walls - it will depend on the load but they may not be secure for very long, before the render is likely to fail.

I have not tried these, but most masonry nails, even Obo, usually cannot be driven into dry good quality concrete - if nothing else they will hit a large piece of aggregate. Decent concrete needs to be drilled and plugged and screws used.
