2.0 out of 5 stars Arcade fire for the X-factor generation, 6 Nov. 2013
This review is from: Reflektor (Audio CD)
I love the arcade Fire's previous albums, they are probably the most commonly played band when in my car these days, but this is a huge disappointment. Its a bit bland to be honest. Its uninspiring in the sense that I'd expect an X-factor winner to be. Theres definitely no stadium anthems in here as are common in previous albums, theres just no spark. A couple of songs are Ok, but generally I just found the tunes annoying. I expect them to be different and inventive, but theres nothing here you wouldnt get from a pop star doing their "serious" album after preiously being known as trash pop

5.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant, 23 Aug. 2012

I just loved it, the idea that a tv show can be like this mowadays just boggles my mind when you look back not too long ago at what accounted for horror and special effects in tv programs, its just zombies in all their spledour. The story is decent, the new and old characters work well together and whilst its fairly predictable throughout, its not meant to be a particularly thought provoking drama, its just ..... well zombies, what more can you ask for? Thoroughly looking forward to season 3 now.

Great story with great new characters to the star wars universe. Its extremely well read, amazing how many voices 1 man can do 1 after another. Just hoping they dont take too long in releasing the 2 sequels in audiobook form.

5.0 out of 5 stars Nice moneybox, 22 July 2012

Its a silver money box in the shape of a cartoon cow. Its a good quality, the design is very clear and its as sturdy as I could hope. Its not the biggest money box out there, but it does the job, and is probably more of an ornament anyway.

3.0 out of 5 stars Nothing really new, 22 July 2012
Theres a female heroin who comes through all kinds of impossible odds, a more than slightly psychotic android, a rich guy that hopes to get some huge reward from finding the alien and a bunch of expendible guys to die in varying degrees of messiness. Sound familiar? Theres not alot new here. The plot might eventually get explained properly in the clearly intended sequel that the movie painstakingly goes about trying to set up in the final half hour, but theres a hell of alot to explain, and Im not sure how much of that is intentional. Should of been better, did the architects really need to be nothing more than a big monster? these creatures were meant to be hugely intelligent. We see the aliens at a less evolved time (which doesnt really work with the AvP storyline in timeline) which is fine, (SPOILER) but the chest inplant alien is a large face hugger/squid, why?
Its a decent movie, but dont expect huge revelations or original ideas

5.0 out of 5 stars Give it time, it really does live up to the hype, 26 Jun. 2012
All the negative reviews Ive seen say theyve only watched a few episodes and then gave up, (the ones about bad language are clearly not people this type of program is aimed at) I can understand this. After the first episode I was totally unconvinced, 2nd 3rd came and went and I was still not sure how much longer I would be watching it. Then from about the 4th episode it became clearer what was going on and what I was watching and I became hooked. You have to understand that each episode isnt really a story, rather the whole series is 1 story, and the 5 series as a whole explain in the end what the writer was thinking about and trying to show. This series is not about glamourising violence or drug trafficking, its doing its best to show how these people lives really are and in reality how little control they have over their lives and what they do and how much the system has created them. At no point does it become predictable, everyone is just as much a part of the game, some just temporarily seem like theyre in control. I would have liked there to have been a closer and longer look at the real people at the top, but their role in telling the story of this part of Baltimore was clear and I accept why that was then left. Series 1 sets the scene, series 2 explains abit more about whos really in charge, series 3 gives us a clue as to what the writer thinks should happen but is doomed from the start, series 4 and 5 show the whole thing is just a cycle, with no one doing anything about the inevitable decline of the next generation as much as you really hope it will.
As the title says, give it time.

4.0 out of 5 stars Abridged, 7 Nov. 2011

Lots of reviews and product info but nothing to tell you the most important information about audiobooks, and that is that these stories are abridged. Nothing wrong with that, but Id have liked to have known this before purchasing
