Liberation Day: (Nick Stone Book 5)
by Andy McNab
Edition: Paperback
Price: 5.59

1.0 out of 5 stars The tedium of real op becomes an equally tedious book, 7 Nov 2013
Had read all of the previous Nick Stone novels and this was such a terrible disappointment.

Goes on too long and franky I didn't give a stuff about how it was going to end, so long as it did.

Really gets under the skin of Wellington and his officers.

Nothing much to say other than the above.

Exactly as described and so it "Does what it says on the box."

Nelson: Britannia's God of War
Nelson: Britannia's God of War
by Andrew Lambert
Edition: Hardcover

4.0 out of 5 stars Excellent biography, 7 Nov 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Very detailed biography of England's greatest sailor.

If there was one, tiny, criticism it is in some of the seemingly irrelevant minutiae that the author heaps on us.

Enjoyable all the same though.

Zero Resistance Selling: Achieve Extraordinary Sales Results Using the World-renowned Techniques of Psycho-Cybernetics
by Maxwell Maltz
Edition: Paperback

1.0 out of 5 stars Blindingly Obvious - Not a page turner, 6 Sep 2013

More like Zero Interest.

Poor style of writing lets the writer down and disapoints the reader.

Rarely do I struggle to finish a book, but this one beat me.

5.0 out of 5 stars Hard to read but full of gems, 6 Sep 2013
This review is from: Red or Dead (Hardcover)
Peace has a , thankfully, unique writing style in this book. Some find his use of repetition truly irritating and it does take some getting used to.

However, he treats the subject with great care and brings out more of the Shankly we loved as the book develops.

I think it is the best sporting book of 2013.

But it is a Marmite selection.

5.0 out of 5 stars Almost perfect, 22 Jun 2013
Highly effective in reducing the number of slugs in the garden.

It didn't kill all of them, but did make major in roads and it
is better than using highly toxic alternatives.

5.0 out of 5 stars Possibly the best cricketing book of the last 30 years, 7 Oct 2012
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: Ashes Retained (Hardcover)
When this was first published the Sunday Times magazine carried a chapter as a taster.

The chapter concerned Derek Randall's heroic innings in the face of what was then the best bowling attack in the world.

Such was the writing , that even though the outcome was known, it was gripping.

I went out and bought the book the very next day and would recommend any cricket do the same now.

This is probably the ideal game if you have lots of time and want to set everything up from scratch.

But if like me you want something that is close to "plug and play" trhen this isn't it.
