5.0 out of 5 stars Loving it!!, 16 Oct. 2013
This review is from: By Any Means [DVD] (DVD)
Been watching this series on BBC and it's amazing! The format is similar to Hustle, and was created by the same writer Tony Jacklin. Unlike other police drama's, this one has a breath of fresh air that is refreshing.

It is enjoyable to watch, and even though the current series is coming to and end soon I am hoping for many more in the future and I will deffo be buying this DVD as soon as it's released!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent!, 16 Oct. 2013

Score by episode:

Series 15
Death Has No Dominion 9.5/10 - Excellent. Gripping storyline
And Then I fell in Love 10/10 - Best of the series. Great!!
Paradise Lost 8.5/10 - Overall good one, storyline bit weak in peices
Domestic 9/10 - Strong; takes a good 20 mins to get going though
Redhill 8/10 - Good; weakest storyline of the series though
Fear 6/10 - Good storyline but just weird, and the episode was a bit dry

Series 16
Change 5/10 - Weakest of the set, a bit of a dry opener that lacks originaility
Trust 9/10 - Much better than the last. Strong plot, and well constructed
True Love Waits 10/10 - Best of the series. Excellente!
Legacy 7/10 - Just a weak storyline here
Greater Love 8/10 - Overall good, takes a little while to get going. Second part is better, would get 9/10.

Overall this is a very good boxset, and I would say 7 of the 10 episodes are well worth watching - and you can never achieve perfection.

Definate must buy + I think Series 15 is the best yet.

5.0 out of 5 stars Good read, but not a light one!, 23 July 2013

Good read - really gripping. However, would reccomend doing some research on the era before you start reading - otherwise all the names will get you in a right muddle.

I prefer this one to the first in the series, Wolf Hall.

3.0 out of 5 stars Good as a supplement..., 23 July 2013

Standard for helping with revision. Not lots of colour but good for the basic revision aid. Goes well as a supplement but not as a stand-alone revision book.

5.0 out of 5 stars One of the best..., 13 July 2012
This review is from: Blackout [DVD] (DVD)
There are some truely outstanding drama series's in Britain... Sherlock, Waterloo Road, Silk etc... which means that to bring another drama, up to that standard, in to the market is VERY hard. However, this drama has done it. Blackout, a mix of emotional upholding, tension and dramatic action is one of the best new drama's I have seen in the last few years. The storyline is well written to intrigue and keep the audience wanting more.

The excellent cast also brings this story alive - amazing performances by actors such as Christopher Eccleston and Andrew Scott make this drama feel very realistic - and therefore make you a lot more interested and intrigued in how the story is going to develop and what is going to happen to these charecters. The plot itself, is very well thought through and provides the audience with just enough twist and turns to fufill across the series. The plot is very good at getting the audience 'pulled in' and making them become connected to these charecters.

A great peice of drama, definatly a reccomended one to watch! :D

5.0 out of 5 stars A true gem....Guilty!, 21 Jun. 2012
This review is from: Silk - Series 2 [DVD] (DVD)
Silk is one of the best drama series that I have seen in a long while. Maxine Peake is great as the strong-head first barrister in this law drama that cleverly explores the twists and turns of life at the bar. The storylines that this programme presents are intriguing and you find yourselves really connected to the cases - through the excellent standard of both writing and acting.

The storylines of this programme are clever and witty. The way the programme explores the life at the bar, provides a unique insight that very few programmes have ever before. Maxine Peake cleverly acts Mathur Costello to portray how challenging the profession is - but also how rewarding the job is. This is a great drama, with excellent storylines. I would deffo reccomend getting this little gem on DVD - and I really do hope there are more series in the future!
