4.0 out of 5 stars OK but dropped a few frames on video, 21 Dec 2011
Fine for photography.. including lots of fast frames.. quite quick sequences of HDR'd timelapse. However, in a Canon XF305.. dropped couple of frames. Make sure you have at least two cards in twin slot cameras so the camera can swap across. I'll be contacting Duracell about this as at x600 it should handle greater than 50Mbps. Might just have a dodgy card here. No problems with rapid shooting photos on 7d and 5d.

5.0 out of 5 stars IMO... Extremely good value for money, 29 Oct 2011
For the price of just a few .. wow. Far better than the annoying film protectors. Solid, easy to apply, I initially stuck it down once and noticed it was upside down, not that would have mattered really. I decided to turn it right way up because of a moment of OCD. I was also thinking "oh dear gonna get some dodgy glue all over the lcd". Had to really ease it off but no smudges, smears, etc. it also stuck down fine afterwards.

Clear and bright.. not annoying bubbles. Very easy to apply. Much better protection than the film ones. Impressed for the price. I'm going to simply leave it in place forever as it going to protect that screen.

These are just my experiences.. you make up your own mind.

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing value package., 20 Feb 2010
This review is from: Final Cut Studio (Mac) (DVD-ROM)
Want to be a film-maker, are a film-maker, documentary, feature, music video, etc... You name it.. you can do it in this. And... very importantly... it's the whole package. No need to get loads of other software packages to add to your NLE. Our humble opinion.. Yup Avid's good... but it's more expensive for the whole package than this, Adobe.. not quite as good (although the motion graphics part of Adobe's suite is very good). Vegas... cheaper.. not bad but doesn't compete at all with FCS3.

For an all round... I want to make films kit... this is incredibly difficult to beat. I switched computer platforms to Mac for FCP2... FCP3 is better still. Some real common sense improvements in the upgrade.. colour coding your markers in the NLE for example, plus the benefits of Apple Prores codecs help it run swiftly even at HD.

Consists of FCP7 (capture and editing suite), Motion graphics (special effects and graphic titles), Soundtrack Pro (audio mixing), Color (grading the color), Compressor (to make the film output files), and DVD Studio Pro (to author the film files to DVD, web, etc).

Fast enough learning curve to get going nice and quickly... loads of stuff to learn within the suite and keep you learning for ages. Much of the content on TV is made with this package... Plus a couple of big films.

Lots and lots of support and a good network of users forums to help you.

5.0 out of 5 stars Well built, good range, adjustable. Good value., 30 Dec 2009
Used Bowens for a while now. Excellent build quality. Good portable kit, though they do take a bit of lugging around. I've dragged mine up several flights of stairs and through the streets of London on shoots. Also chucked half the kit in a rucksuck and on the tube to a shoot. No problems with the kit after plenty of minor knocks.

Use is very simply and very adjustable. Can do all sorts of things with them.

Really good if you have and external power source too.
Good recycle time too.

Used other lights too but actually really enjoy using Bowens.

It's worth getting the extra light fittings too.. softbox, snoots, etc.

Behringer C-1 Condenser Microphone

3.0 out of 5 stars Bit too cheap., 30 Dec 2009
This review is from: Behringer C-1 Condenser Microphone
Well it's cheap.. so that's a plus point. However, the results aren't great to be honest. Don't expect miracles for this price. You'll get a recording but expect quite a bit pf post prod to get a good sound.
However, for an entry level. It's OK. I only used/borrowed one of these and don't own one... and I'm quite glad of that fact though. In all honesty, I'd spend just a bit more. However, it does record.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good mic, 30 Dec 2009
Good mic.. better results than the cheaper versions... but then it's more expensive. Needs a little post on vocals but then that tends to happen anyway. Happy to recommend. Very easy to set up and use. Probably slightly better value for money than the cheaper version. If you can get it on offer, all the better.

4.0 out of 5 stars Not bad, 30 Dec 2009
Obviously not the best mic in the world and only average for music but for quick voice overs or practicing your music etc it's pretty good. Get your settings right first to save yourself time in post. For the money... it's not at all bad. Pay twice the price and you'll obviously get a better mic.. but then you may as well go to a studio and get a full kit rental. This is a good enough mic for what it's meant for. Easy to use too.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good Book... Not sure where this price comes from?? Should be 24.99., 6 Sep 2009
Very good book... I own one.. easy to use but not really a tech key but for general ID... really very good. Excellent info and I recommend the book whole-heartedly.

However... what on Earth is going on with the price here. 61??? The RRP is 24.99. It's in print and can be picked up even cheaper than this online at a number of unmentioned but well known websites and bookstores. Amazon sort this out please as the author deserves to sell them and have the customer not feel conned at the end of the sale.

Please note... this review recommends the book but the price is massively over-inflated at over 60.

4.0 out of 5 stars Nice learning tool, 20 Jun 2009
Good book this.. useful for helping people through the stages of video through to full productions. Good series of projects to work on and learn in steps so you don't get swamped by bi productions to early.

Might benefit now by an update to include HD information.

4.0 out of 5 stars Useful bit of kit, 14 Jun 2009
For it's simplicity of use this earns 4 stars easy. The sound quality and level setting is ok and with a bit of a tweak is easily rates up to good. If I were to sound booth properly when do quick voice overs I might even be giving this 5 but not had chance to do that.
Simple, quick and easy to use. Good results. Good value for money. Very useful.
